Valarie has been working as an aesthetic nurse with Westlake Laser since 2000.  She is highly proficient with injectable fillers and neurotoxins as well as aesthetic lasers and other modalities.  She will help you look your best, while still appearing natural and will use the numerous resources available at our office to create a customized plan to achieve that goal.

Valarie graduated from the University of Oregon with a BS degree and began her career in the computer business.  After the birth of her children she returned to school to become a registered nurse. She spent 10 years working as a labor and delivery nurse before she moved to aesthetics and began the journey with Westlake Laser.  She feels fortunate to have the resources and support of our medical director, Dr. A. Dr. Julie Ann Sherman, is a family medicine physician and neuromusculoskeletal medicine specialist in Long Beach, CA. She graduated from Western University of Health Sciences in 1994 and has over 29 years of experience in the medical field.

Dr. Courtney Scott is our medical director/doctor here at Genesis New Beginning Inc. Dr. Scott has obtained a Bachelor of Science in biology, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a master’s in Business Administration, and of course a degree as a Doctor of Medicine.

Dr. Scott is an award-winning physician & surgeon. He won the AFAM/LMKU Kenneth Award in Scholarly Achievements in Psychology, as well as outstanding performance for his knowledge in internal medicine. He was recognized three (3) years in a row from Keck School of Medicine at USC. He has also been recognized by the African American A-HeFT, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, and the Obesity and Outcome in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia for his research performances.

Dr. Scott is a board-certified physician and surgeon in emergency medicine but brings an understanding, and ability to work well in a busy and/or stressful environment to the behavioral health care industry. He has extensive knowledge of MAT protocols and is certified as a physician to have the most up-to-date information regarding Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT). He started his career early in 2010 working in internal medicine and quickly saw a need for medical professionals with the understanding and knowledge of addiction. Desirae Macias, PA-C, is a physician assistant serving patients at Z-Dermatology & Skin Wellness Center located in Huntington Beach, California. 

Desirae is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed by the Physician Assistant Board of the Medical Board of California. She is currently an active member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA).

Desirae has had an interest in dermatology since she was young, after being significantly influenced by her dermatologists. She received her bachelor's degree from California State University, Fullerton. She then completed the Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) program at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA, earning her Master of Science. In 2015, she became board-certified. 

Desirae has over eight years of experience in medical and cosmetic dermatology. She is very excited to be a part of the elite team at Z-Dermatology & Skin Wellness Center. She is committed to focusing on patient-centered care, comprehensive and preventative monitoring and treatment for skin cancers, and treatment of all dermatologic conditions. 

Outside of the office, Desirae’s interests include spending time with her family (which includes her dog), traveling, and doing DIY projects around her house. Desirae’s goal is to make patients feel great about their skin and to learn something new every day!

Mariam Saad, MPAP, PA-C, is a licensed physician assistant specializing in dermatology. She provides excellent patient care at Z-Dermatology & Skin Wellness Center, located in Huntington Beach, California. 

Mariam completed her undergraduate studies at California Polytechnic University, Pomona, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She then completed the Physician Assistant Studies (MPAP) program at The University of California's Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles, earning her master's degree. 

Mariam is trained in dermatology with a focus on early skin cancer detection and prevention. She continued her training in dermatology by completing the SDPA Diplomate Fellowship and becoming an active member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. 

Mariam is incredibly excited to be a part of the team and privileged to care for patients of all ages with diverse dermatologic conditions. She is passionate about patient education, empowerment, and curating patient-specific skin care regimens. She is committed to helping her patients look and feel their very best. 

Mariam lives in Orange County with her husband and pup. Outside of work, she enjoys going to the beach, trying new cuisine, and spending quality time with family and friends.
