Practice statement
Mindful Behavioral Health, PLLC, is a psychiatric practice in Boca Raton, Florida, that treats the full range of mental health problems that manifest in adults at any stage of development. The treatment team will provide patients with a comprehensive evaluation and with a treatment plan that may include medications and/or psychotherapy. For patients who do not respond to medications, we offer genetic testing to more precisely identify how their DNA reacts with different psychiatric medications.
At Mindful Behavioral Health, we specialize in the treatment of depression, particularly treatment-resistant depression. We do this by providing transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and one of today’s newest and most innovative depression medications, Spravato™ (esketamine).
TMS Therapy is one of the most technologically advanced psychiatric treatments available. This non-invasive, outpatient therapy is FDA cleared for the treatment of depression. TMS has also shown to be of benefit in conditions like anxiety, bipolar depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorder, substance use, PTSD, for improved cognition, autism spectrum disorders, and for a large variety of neurological conditions among other neuropsychiatric disorders. Spravato™ (esketamine) is a new type of depression medication that provides a completely new mechanism of action and rapid relief of the symptoms of depression.
The team at Mindful Behavioral Health partnered with a long-standing research facility, Global Medical Institute, to create a neuropsychiatric research arm called Boca Raton Medical Institute. Their clinical research, which is done in the comfort of the Mindful Behavioral Health offices, includes phase I-IV clinical trials for numerous medications and treatments such as TMS. Patients are welcome to volunteer for clinical trials, which gives them access to the treatment at no cost.
Our providers believe that psychotherapy is essential for restoring each patient’s mental health. Because of this, we offer a wide range of therapies with different styles, choosing the approach that’s best for each person’s needs.
At mindful Behavioral Health, we treat many of the most common mental health conditions -- including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorder, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. We also focus on treating the elderly with Dr. Ivan Cichowicz, a geriatric psychiatrist, and we provide a women's mental health clinic with Dr. Garcia as the psychiatrist and Elizabeth Johnson-Gutierrez as the therapist.
As an added benefit to many patients, Dr. Cichowicz and Dr. Garcia are fluent in both English and Spanish.
The providers at Mindful Behavioral Health are passionate about mental health care and our community. Because we understand that our patients are individuals and not just clients, one can be assured that no matter what challenges you may face, you can count on the team at Mindful Behavioral Health to support you with compassion and provide you with individualized care. To do this, our providers see a limited number of patients a day and spend at least 20 minutes with each medication management patient and between 30-60 minutes with our therapy patients.
