Christopher Serrano, MD, is a caring and compassionate OB/GYN who has earned a reputation for excellence throughout San Antonio, Texas, and the surrounding region. Through his practice at Serrano OBGyn, Dr. Serrano and his team are able to create meaningful improvements in the lives of the women who entrust the practice with their care.
Education has always been centrally important to Dr. Serrano. A Texas native, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he also received special honors for his thesis research. From there, he went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
Dr. Serrano refined his skills and knowledge through a residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center in California. Today, Dr. Serrano is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and also holds membership in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
After finishing his medical training in California, Dr. Serrano and his wife moved home to Texas, settling down in Port Arthur along the Texas Gulf Coast. They built a happy home and a thriving practice in the area, where Dr. Serrano delivered more than 3,000 babies. However, after two major hurricanes impacted the area, the family made the decision to relocate to San Antonio where they have family.
Dr. Serrano founded his private practice on a belief in personalized medicine and with a deep understanding of the importance of quality women’s health services. He has made a conscious decision to forego expanding his practice to allow for more face-to-face time with his patients. Although many practitioners are moving toward a corporate or medical group model, Dr. Serrano prefers to truly get to know the women in his care.
Continuing education is also central to Dr. Serrano. He is experienced in the da VinciⓇ robotic surgical system, a platform that enables outstanding results without the risks associated with open surgery. He’s also upgraded his practice with state-of-the-art 4D ultrasound imaging tools and digital recordkeeping systems.
