Dr. Daniel S. Thomas is without doubt an exceptional spine specialist, pain management specialist, and anesthesiologist. He has been treating my back pain for the past five and a half years. His treatments are painless and the beShow morenefits immediate and long lasting: in fact, I walk pain free within minutes of the procedure. Getting relief from the pain has considerably improved the quality of my life: if it weren't for Dr. Thomas' treatments, I would not be able to walk. I am immensely grateful for his amazing help. My office visits with Dr. Thomas are always very comprehensive. Dr.Thomas and all of his staff at Athens Spine Center are amazing!! Although the wait list to get an appointment with Dr.Thomas was long in the beginning, (I was on the wait list for approximately 3 months for my first consultatioShow moren.) I would do it again and again, because Dr. Thomas definitely knows what he is doing!! He listened to me, heard my concerns, frustrations, pains, and explained everything with such detail I left the visit confident that he knew what he was doing and he was going to help me relieve if not solve my back pain that I have been suffering from for close to 4-5 years or so now!! He broke everything he was saying down and demonstrated what he was referring to using spine models so I could understand what he was saying, what his plan of action was, and what we were going to do moving forward if the first try didn’t bring me any relief!! After my consultation I was scheduled for my procedure the following week, and when I tell you he nailed it!! My pain level has gone down from a constant 8-10 all day everyday to a 2-3 occasionally after a lot of movement or strenuous work.. he helped me so much and I will forever be thankful to him!! And will always recommend him and his ladies to any and everyone looking for relief!! If you’re contemplating on going here or somewhere else, stop wasting time and make the appointment!! Double board-certified interventional pain management specialist and anesthesiologist Daniel S. Thomas, MD, brings more than a decade of experience in pain management and internal medicine to Athens Spine Center in Athens, Georgia, serving men and women throughout Clarke County.
Dr. Thomas was born and raised in Macon, Georgia. He began his professional pursuits at the University of Georgia in Athens, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in microbiology, graduating summa cum laude. Dr. Thomas subsequently enrolled at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and obtained his Doctor of Medicine. While there, he also completed an internship in internal medicine.
Before launching his career, Dr. Thomas completed a residency in anesthesiology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, earning the title of chief resident. Afterward, he completed a fellowship in pain medicine, also at Duke.
Before joining the team at Athens Spine Center, Dr. Thomas worked at Duke University as an attending anesthesiologist and assistant professor, specializing in ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia. He also served for several years at Anesthesia Consultants of Athens in Athens, Georgia.
Dr. Thomas proudly holds membership in the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Georgia Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the International Spine Intervention Society. He loves working with patients to ease pain and promote healthier, more active lifestyles.
When he isn’t augmenting his professional skills or developing custom care plans, Dr. Thomas enjoys spending time with his wife Kristen, a dermatologist, and their three children. Ladies at front desk very friendly and help full. Nurse’s in the full are very nice helpfull to and knowledgeable. you’re very knowledgeable to know what is wrong with my husband‘s back and what to do what shots to do when to do them and what to do next we are very pleased.
