About Dr. Eric Meehan, DPM
Eric Meehan, DPM, is a board-certified podiatrist practicing at South County Foot & Ankle’s locations in Wakefield and Westerly, Rhode Island.
Born in South County, Rhode Island, Dr. Meehan completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston and earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in 2007 from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After completing a rigorous residency at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, Dr. Meehan is well trained in diagnosing and treating routine and complex foot and ankle issues.
Dr. Meehan’s love of athletics, and running in particular, led him to the world of podiatry following his own podiatric injuries. Podiatric treatments and surgery have allowed him to continue to do what he loves, and he hopes to bring this same experience to his patients.
Dr. Meehan is certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in both foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Outside of the office, Dr. Meehan enjoys spending time with his wife and children, entertaining family and friends, and enjoying the outdoors.

It’s was great good replacement for Dr Zervos
I tripped down the stairs carrying something heavy and badly injured my ankle. The folks at Urgent Care recommended a follow up with a foot specialist, and my doctor referred me to Dr. Meehan. I was able to get an appointment very quickly, which was great because I couldn’t walk or drive, so I needed to know what to expect in the future. Dr. Meehan was so friendly, helpful, and reassuring. I received a thorough exam, including another set of x-rays to make sure nothing had been overlooked due to the extensive swelling and bruising he saw. I also had a thorough evaluation by a young Resident doctor who is working with him, who was also very thorough. The doctor was able to reassure me that I would be back on my feet in in less time than I expected, and took the time to answer all my questions. Dr. Meehan’s staff were super friendly and helpful too. Overall, a great experience!
From Corey at the front, to Jen and then Dr Meehan and today Dr Garcia, it’s always a seamless, professional and enjoyable visit. The team at the Westerly office is top notch

Dr. Meehan & his staff are excellent and empathetic health care providers; as well as very nice people.
Dr. Meehan was extremely nice and gentle with my foot. I believe he did a good job. However when I got home and put a shoe on it still hurt as much. I don’t know if it just needs a day or two to settle down or if he needs to do a little more scraping. Would love a call back or maybe I could stop in on Thursday for two minutes to have him look at it.
