About Dr. Fredesvinda Jacobs-Alvarez, MD

Dr. Fredesvinda Jacobs-Alvarez, MD is the founder and Medical Director of Esperanza Behavioral Health and Services. Dr. Jacobs has over 25 years of experience in treating individuals suffering from mental illness and behavioral conditions.

Dr. Jacobs-Alvarez completed her medical school from the Universidad Nordestana in the Dominican Republic. She completed her Adult Psychiatric residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami and her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami.

She is a board-certified Adult, Child, and Adolescent Psychiatrist. She has worked at the Miami VA Medical Center, South Florida State Hospital in Pembroke Pines, Winter Haven Hospital, Lakeside Behavioral Healthcare (which is now Aspire Health Partners) and Central Florida Behavioral Hospital servicing the Central Florida community. She a member of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), Florida Psychiatric Society (FPS) and American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP).

She has been in private practice for over 15 years. Her and her staff are bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish). Her office is committed to maintaining an environment that is compassionate and welcoming for all patients. Dr. Jacobs-Alvarez believes in helping her patients' "Mind, Body and Spirit" to find a balance between medication, therapy and lifestyle journey.
