I walked into Family and Sports Medicine Institute with an old friend. It wasn't a good one. Piriformis syndrome is something I have been experiencing for many many years. I was never able to understand exactly what, and why it waShow mores happening. In less than 15 minutes, Dr. Rehberg diagnosed the problem, showed me images of the muscle location and how it operated. I had brought along my Napoxen and Muscle relaxers from previous doctors but explained that I did not want to mask the problem. I wanted it solved. Dr. Rehberg gave with a few simple stretches that got right to the source muscle. A few days of rest and stretches and I am back in my Orange Theory routine. More knowledgeable, more mindful, more aware of how my body works. This is the kind of doctor I prefer. Pills are a last resort, not a first response. Thank You everyone at Family and Sports Medicine Institute. Dr. Hector and Dr. Mascaro are also stellar in the field of Sports Medicine. I have had the pleasure of being treated by the entire staff! Highly recommend this practice!
I was disappointed that the Doctor did not use the ultrasound to check the interior area of my knee. Each Doctor whom I have seen used this to check for best site for the injection.It has been 6 months since my last round of shotShow mores and I would think it would be a good idea to look inside first prior to procedure. When I asked the Doctor she shared that’s it about knowing the anatomy. I understand that but since the opportunity is there to see inside the knee, think it would be good to use the scan. Dr. Was kind and supportive as was her assistant. Going for a shot in my left knee on Thursday
Joelle Stabile Rehberg, DO, FAOASM, is an experienced primary care and sports medicine specialist at Family and Sports Medicine Institute of NJ in Montclair, New Jersey. with over 30 years of experience in sports medicine.
Dr. Rehberg is a Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine (FAOASM), and earned a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine (CAQSM). She completed her Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship through the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine at Union Hospital. Her training involved working with Kean University and Seton Hall University's athletic departments and several local high schools. She also provided coverage for WWE as well as the XFL.
Dr. Rehberg completed her residency in Family Practice at Christ Hospital and St. Francis Hospital in Jersey City. She graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey -School of Osteopathic Medicine (now Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine) and received a Bachelor of Science from Seton Hall University, where she worked in the Sports Medicine Department.
Dr. Rehberg started her practice years working in primary care in Montville, New Jersey. She then worked as a concussion specialist at the Center for Concussion Care at Atlantic Health at Overlook Hospital. She has also worked as the non-surgical spine specialist at Atlantic Neurosurgical Specialists, specializing in the non-surgical treatment of spinal patients. Dr. Rehberg has been the District Physician for the Montville Township Board of Education since 2001.
Dr. Rehberg has lectured at the national and local levels on musculoskeletal care and concussion management and has recently co-authored the updated version of ConcussionWise™, an online educational tool for athletes, parents, and coaches. Dr. Rehberg is co-author of Cram Session in General Medical Conditions: A Handbook for Students and Clinicians, which has been published in Clinics in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Rehberg's interests include all acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, specializing in non-operative spinal care, and sports related concussion management. She is dedicated to caring for all athletes and has a special interest in Women's Musculoskeletal Health.
Dr. Rehberg is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, is a member of and board-certified by the American College of Family Physicians (ACOFP), and is a member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine and the American College of Sports Medicine.

She made me feel comfortable like I was talking to an old friend, and came up with a great plan of action to help my shoulder heal that suits my lifestyle. Dr. Rehberg was personable, professional, and proficient in her assessment of my knee pain. She really took the time to understand the issue and what my goals were before recommending a prescribed treatment plan. Additionally, while she gave me the option for PT, she recommended I start with exercises at home and printed them right out for me. I drove 55 minutes for this appointment and it was well worth it.

Quality care, with no hassles. Everything from parking to getting phone calls returned is easy. All the hassles I'm used to dealing with are missing but not missed. I've moved cross country, and have received the same treatments, (botox for migraines) and the results are great.
Dr Rehberg provided information on the possible reasons why i am experiencing gait and post meniscus surgery issues. Hopefully an MRI will present answers to my ongoing mobility problems.
