My 4 month old has been seeing Dr.Prentice and staff at Great Destinations since birth! She loves coming in and showing off her new skills. I feel like everyone here truly cares about your kids because mostly everyone has little oShow morenes of their own. I’m a first time mom and I call them quite often, but I always feel welcomed in their questions, comments, or concerns I have. Thank you for always showing my daughter so much compassion and taking my once a week calls!
Great Destinations Pediatrics is fantastic! All of the doctors are so caring and thorough. They were able to see my daughter for a sick visit the same day I called. Dr Prentice gave us recommendations for treatment of my daughter'Show mores illness and also recommendations for how to keep her healthy in the future. Dr Prentice personally called me when my daughter's test results came in on the weekend. We appreciate the care provided by this practice!
Karen Prentice, DO, FAAP, has been working as a general pediatrician in private practice since 1997. Dr. Prentice was one of the original doctors who started Great Destinations Pediatrics in Peoria, Arizona, in 1999. Dr. Prentice finds joy listening to kids and teens and getting to know them as well as their families. She loves being a pediatrician and feels blessed to be a part of so many family’s lives.
Dr. Prentice attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in chemistry. She attended the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, California, graduating as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996. She completed her pediatric internship and residency program at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1997. She is a board-certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Prentice is a wife and mother. She enjoys spending time with her family, running marathons, biking, experimenting with her organic vegetable garden, and writing. Her first book, called “An Apple a Day the Doctor’s Way: Dr. Karen’s Nutritional Guide and Cookbook,” was published in 2015. She says her passion is helping families achieve wellness through healthy eating, exercise, and healthy lifestyle choices.

Dr. Prentice is so kind and gentle with my son. He is so comfortable with her, she will make sure I feel like all my questions are answered. I went to Great Destinations myself when I was young and knew once's I had my son I was going to take him here. Best place hands down!

Dr. Prentice was so kind and knowledgeable! This is our second time in this office after switching pediatricians. I truly felt heard and understood by her as to what was going on with my child. Dr. Prentice is a wonderful Dr. She sits and asks questions- she is hands on- not just listening and typing into the computer . She in my opinion shows she cares did her patients.

My son hurt his ankle while playing basket. Dr. Prentice was able to get a STAT order for imaging and take care of my son very quickly.
