Dr. Dovan is a great surgeon & doctor. He shows patient interest, patient concerns are addressed & he is approachable & encouraging - something not often seen in medical profession. Am of age, I know we get our "10 minutes " of mShow moreedical follow-up & that's it. It's a business like any other. Get it. He has "medical finesse" - good doctor. NOTE: young doctor shadowing him/residency whatever, needs to work on her people skills - she is not "present" in patient encounters - she needs to be if she wants to be successful as a surgeon. It's about the patient. Not just the procedure. She will be dealing with many from my age group in her profession in the future.
Great experience all around! I got wrist surgery with Dr Dovan and his whole team was so supportive and even fun — they helped me take my mind off how nervous I was. Everything went great despite the location for the operation beiShow moreng in a trickier spot near an artery. Also I had cut my finger pretty badly while cooking the day before, and I couldn’t believe it when I woke up, but they had stitched that up too! Would definitely recommend Dr Dovan and his team
Thomas Dovan, MD, specializes in orthopedic surgery of the hand and upper extremity. Dr. Dovan sees patients at Elite Sports Medicine + Orthopedics’s Midtown and Green Hills locations in Nashville and Cool Springs office in Franklin, Tennessee.
Dr. Dovan attended medical school at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency at Vanderbilt University and his fellowship in surgery of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder at the prestigious Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Dovan is currently a team physician for Lipscomb University, Belmont University, and Trevecca Nazarene University. He has also consulted in the care of many professional athletes, including football and hockey players, serving as a professional football team doctor from 2007-2018.

Dr Dovan has a wonderful personality and listens to his patients. He performed for me carpel tunnel and arthritis removal on my thumbs, first on my left hand and a year later on my right. I am so thankful to him as I am without pain and numbness now.
