Lourdes González Bahamonde, DO, is a board certified physician in internal medicine; ACGME-fellowship trained in gastroenterology and ASBH-certified healthcare ethics consultant. She provides comprehensive medical care at Center For Digestive Healing in the San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles California. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychobiology at UCLA, and a master's in bio-physiology at CSULA before earning her medical degree at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, NYIT on Long Island. She completed her ACGME training in internal medicine, gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition in NY at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, now Northwell Health, in 2013 and established Center For Digestive Healing in 2018 as an sCorp.
In 2020, the Center for Digestive Healing opened its doors, offering patients access to personalized care in gastroenterology and nutrition with access to advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies through hospital privileges at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, CA. She delivers comprehensive digestive care through a hybrid practice model—meeting patients where they are through telemedicine while ensuring seamless access to in-person consultations, diagnostic testing, endoscopy, and therapeutic procedures when indicated. While Dr. Bahamonde specializes in digestive disorders, her practice has evolved toward integrative, preventive, patient-centered care that combines learned principles in internal medicine, GI, nutrition, with osteopathic manipulative medicine principles in practice.
Since relocating from NY, she has performed over 12,000 endoscopies, including gastric and colorectal cancer screenings with polypectomies, endoscopic mucosal resections, as well as routine screenings for chronic liver disease. Dr. Bahamonde emphasizes peer-reviewed understanding of the interrelationship of body, structure, and function, allowing her special insight into treating gut-brain disorders. She has dedicated her life to serving diverse communities through education and cultural competence, recognizing the importance of open communication in shared-decision making.
Dr. Bahamonde continues to inspire future health care leaders in education. She serves physicians, residents and fellows as medical ethics faculty scholar; as well as medical director and assistant professor of clinical anatomy and gastroenterology for Touro University California, Los Angeles' new Master's of Pysician Assistant Studies. She is dedicated to translational science efforts for prehealth professional students and youth in STEM programs.
