He worked in private practice early in his career for about 6 years. Dr. Amaya relocated to the Washington, DC area. He continued his education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Dentistry, where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Dr. Amaya is licensed in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. He has been working in the Washington, DC area since 2019.
Dr. Amaya enjoys practicing dentistry; he has helped a diverse population. with procedures that include restorative work such as crowns, fillings, bridges, as well as complete and partial dentures, root canals, and extractions. He is passionate about dentistry in general. He periodically takes continuing education courses. Dr. Yutaka Okamoto is a skilled and compassionate general dentist with over 20 years of experience delivering comprehensive, patient-focused dental care. He was the founder and owner of SmileWell in North Bethesda, Maryland, where he provided a wide range of services including Invisalign, cosmetic and restorative dentistry, implant restorations, and full-mouth rehabilitation. During his time at SmileWell, Dr. Okamoto was consistently recognized for clinical excellence and patient satisfaction. His accolades include Washingtonian Top Dentist (2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2025), Bethesda’s Best Dentist (2020, 2022, 2024), and a place on the Washingtonian Wall of Fame. Dr. Okamoto continues to advance the profession through education. He has been serving as a clinical instructor as a Dean’s Faculty member at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, mentoring, teaching and educating dental students. Dr. Duckett has been practicing dentistry since 1995. He is currently a faculty member of the Department of Removable Prosthodontics, Howard University College of Dentistry, where he has received numerous “Outstanding Clinical Teacher Awards” . He had successfully completed a comprehensive one-year Dental Implant training program at Howard University and served as a Program Director’s Assistant. He was also the Principal Investigator of several research projects affiliated with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
As a researcher, Dr. Duckett has extensive knowledge in the latest advances in Family & Cosmetic Dentistry. As an educator, Dr. Duckett feels our greatest service is in educating our patients. He takes time to explain patients’ dental needs and addressing all their concerns and questions.
