Jane Yang, DDS, has shared her passion for dentistry with patients from China to the United States. She completed her training in one of the best healthcare facilities in China, then earned her degree in dentistry and practiced there for several years. When she came to the US, she was ready to take on new challenges and add to her already impressive dental credentials. Those credentials would serve her well at New York University (NYU) School of Dental Medicine where she graduated with a full Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in only three years.

Dr. Yang’s thirst for education led her to a challenging two-year dental implant program, after which she successfully completed advanced studies in dental implants. She has performed for more 500 hours of implant training and placed hundreds of dental implants for her patients.

An expert in all phases of general, cosmetic, and implant dentistry, Dr. Yang also has a special interest in bone enhancement and root canal therapies. In addition to English, Dr. Yang is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and Fujianese.

Alexander Kimon, DMD, was born and raised in Sparta, New Jersey. He earned a dual degree in mathematics and chemistry at New York University, where he graduated at the top of his class. Dr. Kimon attended Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston and completed his dentistry degree with top honors. He has been a dedicated member of the team at Downtown Dental Studio serving the Financial District of New York since 2011.

Despite his many years of training and experience, Dr. Kimon takes an active role in continuing education for himself and his patients. He takes the time to get to know and educate each individual he treats. Dr. Wynatte Chu has deep ties to the communities of New York City and Westport, where she has been proudly providing dental care since 2004. Dr. Chu earned her bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College and completed graduate studies in molecular biology and genetics at Long Island University, where she was inducted into the Beta Gamma Chapter of the Phi Sigma Biological Honor Society. Meet Dr. Malkis

Avi Malkis at Larchmont Family Dental brightens smiles in Larchmont and Westchester County, providing comprehensive dental care for patients of all ages. While at NYU, he was given an award for Most Outstanding Senior Dental Student by the New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, completed academic research on the subject of bleeding complications under Dr. Michael Turner, and earned academic honors in both head and neck anatomy and oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Malkis received “Most Outstanding Student with a focus on Oral Surgery" honors and graduated in the top 10% of his class in 2010. While at NYUCD, Dr. Malkis did humanitarian work by providing underserved people in Nicaragua with dental care.

In addition to his work as a dentist, Dr. Malkis has broad experience in teaching and research. He spent a year as a tutor for first-year dental students in the Head and Neck Anatomy course at NYUCD, and also as a teaching assistant for first-year dental students in the General Dentistry Simulation I Clinic. In his free time, Dr. Malkis stays fit by running, weight lifting, and enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children.

Dr. Marsheh earned his first Dental Degree overseas, and practiced in underserved areas for 2 years focusing on Endodontic treatment before he moved to the United States. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from New York University College of Dentistry, and earned his specialty degree in Endodontics in 2009 from Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. 

Dr. Marsheh practiced General Dentistry for 1 year before entering the Endodontic Program to experience complete patient care. He has provided endodontic therapy to many patients. While completing his specialty training, Dr. Marsheh conducted research at New York University focusing on “Anxiety toward Endodontic Treatment”.

Dr. Walter Kostrzewski, otherwise known as “Dr. K”,  graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1992.  In 1993 he completed a General Practice Residency at University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY,  with an emphasis on treating the medically compromised patient, dental trauma, sedation and treating the fearful dental patient.  Since then he has had completed many hundred hours of CE.  Dr K is also earned a BS degree in Biology from Villanova University.

Dr K was a "Sustaining" member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry from 2002-2007.

And in 2003 was listed in “New York Magazine” as one of the New York area’s best cosmetic dentists

The Smile Designer

Dr. Walter Kostrzewski graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1992 and went on to continue his studies at University Hospital at Stony Brook, which placed an emphasis on treating the medically compromised and FEARFUL patients.  “Dr. K,” as his patients and colleagues know him, continued to quench his thirst for dental education and has satisfied hundreds of hours of continuing education. In 2000 and 2001, Dr. K completed the entire continuum at PAC-Live, the nation’s premiere, hands-on live patient continuing education program. He is a Fellow of the International Academy for Dental Facial Esthetics (IADFE), a select of group of individuals who are committed to the pursuit of excellence through continuing interdisciplinary education in the field of facial esthetics. Dr. K also achieved fellowship in the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics (ACE), a highly regarded credentialing process designed to evaluate dental professionals who are committed to advanced learning, attention to detail, and clinical excellence.

The Teacher

Dr. K was a clinical instructor at the prestigious Hornbrook Group in Chicago, where he trained other dentists in cosmetic dentistry and full mouth rehabilitation. In addition to his affiliation with the Hornbrook Group, Dr. K speaks nationally in front of his peers, has published numerous articles featured in dental journals such as DentalTown, The Crown Council and the Dental Leader. Dr. K also consults and teaches  with major dental manufacturers, as well as dental laboratories who all value his extensive knowledge of the dental industry.

The Coach

Also known as “Coach K”, he has a flair for creating passionate teams! In 2000, “Coach K” founded “The Winning Dentist,” a team of consultants to help others develop passionate teams, functional work systems, and provide motivation and congruent marketing. In addition to his numerous published articles, Coach K recently authored a resource manual “Creating Passionate Aesthetic Dental Teams.” This publication is designed to aid dentists, office managers and their counterparts how to create their own winning team. His forthcoming book "Leading and Developing the Ultimate TEAM" will be available in the Spring of 2018.

When not practicing dentistry, Dr K  is an avid skier and golfer, depending on the season, and a hockey player  and coach. Despite playing for 40 years now, including college hockey in the ECAC/S while at Villanova, he has yet to lose a tooth!  Dr K has three boys Luke, Alex and Aiden. Happily Married to Kristen. They play golf together regularly.  In the winter months, they ski and work out together, and are learning ballroom dance.

Dr. Joel Caraballo graduated Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico where he served as President of the American Student Dental Association.  Upon graduating from this prestigious University he moved to New York City. Dr. Caraballo was accepted to and completed a two year General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center. It was at Montefiore that Dr. Caraballo gained a lot of his hands on experience since he was exposed to a wide extent of patients with complex medical conditions. His residency prepared well and he quickly became one of the primary dentist to call when needing to treat medically compromised patients.

Dr. Caraballo was quickly promoted to Chief Resident Dr. Caraballo where he received extensive training in all disciplines of dentistry including restorative & cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, crown & bridge, dental implants,root canal therapy and Invisalign orthodontics.

After completing his residency Dr. Caraballo has expanded his knowledge in dentistry by participating in continuing education on important fields of dentistry including Anterior Esthetic Restorations, TMD, Full Mouth Rehabilitation and Implantology.

Dr. Caraballo is a dedicated dental professional and has engaged his skills beyond the dental clinic to provide community outreach, dental service in underdeveloped areas back home in Puerto Rico and mission trips in Honduras.

Evelyn Shine Franco, DDS, is a talented and friendly dentist who treats patients at Shine DDS in Brooklyn, New York.
Dr. Shine was educated and trained at New York University in New York City, completing her undergraduate education with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and earning her doctorate of dental surgery at the university’s College of Dentistry.
