Haris Mirza, MD, is an infectious disease physician at Ocala Infectious Disease and Wound Center in Ocala, Florida. He has over 28 years of experience in the field of medicine, with 20 of those years in infectious disease.
Dr. Mirza graduated from medical school with his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1995. He then completed his residency at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey, where he was regularly at the top of his class. He completed four years of residency instead of three years, allowing him ample exposure to intensive care training, geriatrics, and surgical patient complications. As part of his extra year of training in transitional medicine, he completed rotations of emergency medicine, infectious disease, dermatology, mycobacterial diseases, and human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV).
After his residency, Dr. Mirza trained at the prestigious Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. There, he completed his infectious disease fellowship and later obtain his board certification in infectious disease in 2004. Dr. Mirza continued his education and spent another two years at Brown University, where he conducted clinical trials for HIV/AIDS research.
After leaving New England in 2004, Dr. Mirza found his home in Ocala and obtained his state license in Florida. He practiced both internal medicine and infectious disease before opening his own practice, Ocala Infectious Disease and Wound Center, in 2005.
Dr. Mirza has been affiliated with many of the local rehabs and subacute facilities in Ocala. He has served on antibiotic surveillance committees and as the infection control department chair for AdventHealth Ocala in the past. He actively remains credentialed at Ocala Regional Medical Center, West Marion Community Hospital, and AdventHealth Ocala, but he enjoys seeing patients in his office the most. Dr. Mirza enjoys treating common and uncommon illnesses, including wounds, infections, HIV, mycobacterial infections, and Lyme disease.
For the last 15 years, Dr. Mirza has grown his practice by being a consistent advocate for his patients. He enjoys getting to know his patients, and many of them have become like family over years of service. He is loved by his patients and well regarded in the Ocala Community.
When not at the clinic, he spends much of his time with his wife and four children. He enjoys traveling to the mountains and state parks, playing on his farm, and building things in his workshop.
