At Optimal Performance Medicine in Woodstock, Georgia, Michael Skardasis, MD, gained a reputation as the doctor that takes his patients off medicine. After spending more than 12 years at North Georgia Internal Medicine, Dr. Skardasis experienced the power that good nutrition has on changing a person’s health.
Dr. Skardasis opened Optimal Performance Medicine in 2018. At his practice, patients come first, and he provides individualized empathic care focused on creating health instead of treating sick.
Dr. Skardasis was born and raised in Atlanta. After earning his bachelor of science from the University of Georgia in Athens, he went on to the prestigious Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta for his medical degree. Initially, Dr. Skardasis set out to pursue a career as a surgeon, but after two years of surgical training, he switched gears to internal medicine. He completed his residency at Grady Memorial Hospital, which became like a second home.
To expand the depth of his medical knowledge, Dr. Skardasis also spent time at the Atlanta VA Medical Center, Emory University, and Emory University Midtown Hospital during his training, which he considers some of his fondest memories.
After completing his training, Dr. Skardasis spent time at the Kaufmann Clinic, working at both the Woodstock and Midtown locations, as well as North Georgia Internal Medicine. He also spent time working as a hospitalist at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia.

Dr. Andrea Teodorovic is a board-certified family medicine physician dedicated to providing compassionate, whole-person care to individuals and families across all stages of life. Originally from Vršac, a town in the northern Serbian region of Vojvodina, Dr. Teodorovic comes from a four-generation family of physicians. Her commitment to building lifelong relationships with patients is rooted in this strong medical heritage and a deep understanding of the human experience.
Dr. Teodorovic earned her medical degree from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Medicine in Serbia, completing her studies in 2019. She continued her medical training in the United States through the Family Medicine Residency Program at St. Luke’s University Health Network in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where she served as Chief Resident. During her time at St. Luke’s, she led impactful community outreach initiatives, including free health screenings and patient-education workshops. Her leadership secured a $25,000 grant to support these community health efforts.
In addition to her medical credentials, Dr. Teodorovic holds certifications in Transactional Analysis and Emotional Intelligence, enhancing her ability to deliver empathetic and psychologically informed care. She is also certified in Nexplanon insertion, expanding her scope in women’s health.
Dr. Teodorovic speaks Serbian, Romanian, and English fluently, allowing her to connect with a diverse patient population. Outside of her clinical work, she is a trained pianist and solo vocalist, and enjoys expressing her creativity through drawing and painting. She cherishes time spent with her partner and their dog and embraces life’s simple pleasures—especially sharing good food and coffee with loved ones, a tradition close to her Balkan roots.

Rekha Kesavan, MD, is a board-certified internist specializing in women’s wellness. Dr. Kesavan provides patient-centered care at Comprehensive Primary Care in Lawrenceville and Suwanee, Georgia. Dr. Kesavan earned her Doctor of Medicine at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research in Chennai, India, an affiliate of Harvard Medical International. She then relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to continue her medical training, completing her internal medicine internship and residency at Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center. Dr. Johnson completed her undergraduate studies at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL. Her activities included shadowing Primary Care physicians and volunteering at the Atlanta VA Medical Center ER. She then attended medical school at the Medical College of GA in Augusta, GA.
During her medical school training, Dr. Johnson developed an interest in Internal Medicine due to her desire to care for the whole patient. She attended Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA for intern and residency training. She decided to focus on Primary Care because of her love of the relationships formed between patients and families as a Primary Care Physician.

Himanshi Chopra, MD, is a board-certified physician in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine with a passion for preventive care, chronic disease management, weight management, and outpatient procedures. Dr. Chopra attended Purdue University for undergraduate education and went on to receive her medical degree from International Medical University. During residency, Dr. Chopra was deeply involved in community outreach, a commitment inspired by her father’s teachings. She led numerous quality improvement, research, and patient education initiatives. In recognition of her leadership and dedication, she received the prestigious Graduate Medical Education Excellence Award from the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2021, an honor recognizing her as one of the top 12 resident physicians in the nation. Dr. Chopra credits this achievement to her mentors, educators, and patients, whose support continues to inspire her passion for medicine.
In 2026, Dr. Chopra was named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor of Atlanta, an honor awarded to physicians nominated by their peers and evaluated for their board certifications, professional accomplishments, clinical excellence, and dedication to patient care. This distinction places her among a select group of physicians recognized for making a meaningful impact in healthcare and within their communities.
Now proudly back home in Atlanta, Dr. Chopra enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. A former competitive swimmer, rower, and fencer, she maintains a strong interest in fitness, nutrition, and animal welfare.
