Since 1997, I have been an attending Physician at Community Oriented Primary Care (COPC) in Garland, TX - A Division of Parkland Health and Hospital System. Currently, I am an attending physician at Children’s Hospital. In addition, I have hospital privileges at Richardson’s Regional Medical Center. When I am not in my office, I am with my two children who give me deep joy and happiness. We currently live in Richardson Texas.

I view medicine as my calling; primary care is my passion because it combines restoration, education, counseling, and advocacy. For over 30 years, I have been dedicated to public health in communities worldwide, including West Africa and Haiti. In the last 19 years, I have worked as a board-certified internist in Dallas and Austin, focusing on reducing health disparities related to COVID-19, hypertension, diabetes, and HIV.

Shahnaz Begum, MD, FACC, is a Board-certified cardiovascular disease specialist. She is an experienced physician who has been practicing cardiology for over 15 years. 

Dr. Begum received her medical degree from State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical College in New York. She subsequently completed 3 years of training in Internal Medicine followed by another 3 years of specialized training in Cardiovascular disease/cardiology. She then worked at SUNY Downstate as a faculty physician and Assistant Professor of Cardiology until she moved to Dallas. After that she worked at Texas Health Resource and Plano Presbyterian Hospital for several years as an attending Cardiologist. Since then, she has been providing outstanding cardiac care at Heart Care located in Frisco, Texas.
