Amie Sun-Wright, MD, PhD, CCD, has been practicing medicine since 2008 in North Houston. She is proud to serve patients at New Wave Physicians Group in Spring, Texas.

Dr. Sun-Wright studied at the University of Texas in San Antonio, where she earned her Master of Science and PhD in biochemistry. While serving as an assistant professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, she was involved in the development of using bacteriophage as a “natural killer” to bacteria in the human body. The research experience has trained her to always approach an issue with systematic assessment and critical thinking. 

During her research years, Dr. Sun-Wright realized she enjoyed helping people so she later obtained her medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Dallas before moving to the Houston area so she could be closer to her loving and extended family. 

Her awards include “Top Doctors” in Houston for multiple years, and she was also named in the Who’s Who in Primary Care in the US in 2018. She served as a representative to Texas Medical Association early in her career and recently as a medical director for a national health care organization. 

Prior to her endeavors, Dr. Sun-Wright was an assistant instructor in the Department of Cellular and Structural Biology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. In addition to her role as an Internist, she is a Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD). A CCD is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a professional designation awarded to clinicians who meet specified knowledge.

Dr. Sun-Wright is a triathlon enthusiast and is fluent in English, Chinese, and medically conservant in Spanish.

Elina Shakya, MD, is a skilled, board-eligible endocrinologist at Endocrine and Psychiatry Center in Katy and Houston, Texas. 

Dr. Shakya earned her medical degree at the Nepal Medical College and Teaching Hospital in Gokarneshwor before relocating to the United States for her residency and fellowship. She studied at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic in Ohio for her residency. Ashley Cook, WHNP-BC, is a highly trained Women's Health Nurse Practitioner at Woodlands Aesthetics in The Woodlands, Texas. She has almost two decades of experience and specializes in an array of women’s services.

Ashley began her career in health care as a registered nurse after earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing from The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) in Galveston, Texas. She continued her education by receiving a master’s degree in nursing at the UT Health Science Center in Houston. 

She spent five years working as a registered nurse at The Woodlands Hospital Family Birth Center in The Woodlands, Texas, before moving to the Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center. Andrew earned an associate’s degree at the Lower Columbia College, College of Nursing in Longview, Washington, before completing his Bachelor of Science in nursing with honors at the University of Texas College of Nursing in Arlington. He fulfilled a master’s degree and post-graduate program at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston to earn the family nurse practitioner credentials and certification in emergency and trauma. 

Before joining Southern Secrets Med Spa and Clinic, Andrew worked as an emergency center staff nurse in the busiest Level III trauma center in Texas and as a charge nurse in a chemical detox unit. He is a member of the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Sigma Theta Tau.

When he’s not at work, Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He likes being outdoors, hiking, hunting, fishing, and hopes to obtain his pilot’s license someday.

Ruby Samuel John, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. She provides expert care to patients at Magnolia Family Medicine in Magnolia, Texas.

Dr. John earned her medical degree from Windsor University School of Medicine in 2005 and completed her residency at Rutgers NJ Medical School in Newark, where she was honored with the Most Humanistic Award in 2009. She went on to serve as Chief Resident and later as an Assistant Clinical Professor at University Hospital until 2011.

Dr. John devoted ten years to the Primary Care Clinic of North Texas, a non-profit organization serving the uninsured. Her commitment to underserved populations was recognized at the Lone Star Cares Fundraising Gala, where she received the Care and Compassion Award in 2014.
