Dr. Rayher attended college at the University of California at San Diego, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in bio-engineering while being elected to the prestigious engineering honor society, Tau Beta Pi. 

After moving back to the Bay Area, Dr. Rayher earned both his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees from the University of California at San Francisco. While a student, he was active in student government and was elected to serve as the Student Body President of UCSF. Tyler Nelson, DDS, is thrilled to practice oral surgery at Ramona Dental Specialists in Ramona, California! Although his life’s journeys have taken him far from home, he is grateful to be back.

Dr. Nelson received his bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Brigham Young University. During his undergraduate education, he took a “career exploration” class, which required him to observe numerous professions. When he observed an oral surgeon in action, he found his passion and made up his mind rather quickly, that this was the career path for him. He loves what he does every day.

During dental school at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, Dr. Nelson served as class president each year, and as Student Body President during his senior year. He graduated with high honors and was accepted into the 4-year oral and maxillofacial surgery program at Highland Hospital in Oakland, California.

During his residency, Dr. Nelson was trained in IV sedation, dental implants, the removal of problematic teeth, facial trauma, and orthognathic (jaw repositioning) surgery. He also presented research on jaw tumors and imaging modalities for the diagnosis of mandibular fractures.

Dr. Tyler Nelson is happily married to his college sweetheart, Natalie. Together, they are proud parents of six children. Beyond spending time with his family, Dr. Nelson enjoys running, biking, and snowboarding.
