More than a doctor’s office, Dr. Georgeanne Freeman runs a family medicine wellness clinic, Downtown Doctor, centrally located in Austin for those who live, work, or play in the downtown area.
Texas born and bred, Dr. Freeman grew up in Houston. Growing up in Houston gave Dr. Freeman the opportunity to become a passionate surfer. She was able to surf the Freeport pier, Galveston beach during storms and various Mexico beaches. It may surprise you to know that you can surf a 2-3 foot wave. Dr. Freeman explains that in Texas, surfers use styrofoam boards when the waves are flat. The longer the board, the easier it is to catch small waves.
After Houston, she spent a number of years living and practicing medicine in rural America - namely in the Appalachian Mountains and the Ozark Mountains. Her love of Austin began during high school when she spent a summer session at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School. There is often confusion when differentiating between a physician with a medical degree (MD) and a physician with a doctorate in osteopathic medicine (DO).
