Dr. Norman is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in neuroscience and graduated summa cum laude. From there, he attended University of California, Irvine College of Medicine, where he was again recognized for his academic excellence with an Alpha Omega Alpha distinction and acceptance to the National Dean's List. He then completed residency training in Internal Medicine, and a dedicated fellowship in Sleep Medicine at Harvard, and a Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at UC San Diego.
Through his studies, Dr. Norman came to understand the impact sleep had on a person’s health, and developed an interest in the effective treatment of sleep disorders. Dr. Norman has been on the forefront of sleep medicine, as a principal investigator in numerous research studies, a lecturer at UCLA and at various national meetings, and an author of over 20 abstracts, book chapters, and scientific articles in peer reviewed journals.

Kelly Smith, MD, specializes in pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine, and is a co-founder of Texas Pediatric Specialties and Family Sleep Center in the Alamo Heights, Shavano Park, and Lockhill-Selma areas of San Antonio, Texas. He has achieved fellowship designation in four areas of medical practice to include sleep medicine, pediatrics, pediatric pulmonology, and internal medicine.
A New Braunfels native, Dr. Smith earned his undergraduate degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and remained in the state to complete his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He refined his skills and knowledge through an internship and residency at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, where he was also appointed chief resident of internal medicine and pediatrics.
Fellowship training in pediatric pulmonology at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston came next, followed by research and training in sleep medicine through the Texas Children’s Sleep Center in San Antonio.
Dr. Smith went into private practice in 2007 and worked with his partners to open Texas Pediatric Specialties and Family Sleep Center in 2009. He enjoys working collaboratively to offer the highest possible level of care in pediatric pulmonology and adult/pediatric sleep medicine.
When not working with patients, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. Flyfishing, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, and soccer keep him outdoors and active, and he tries to take advantage of all that the San Antonio area has to offer.
