Ryan Burris, MD is a board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist and cardiologist at Cardiology Specialists of Orange County (CSOC) practicing in Santa Ana, Irvine, and Newport Beach, California. He has special interests in catheter ablation of SVT, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and VT as well as in implantation of cardioverter-defibrillators (including subcutaneous systems), permanent pacemakers (including leadless technologies), and CRT insertion.
Dr. Burris attended UC San Diego for his undergraduate and graduate degrees and then received his medical degree from UC Irvine where he subsequently completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship. He then completed his advanced fellowship training in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Chicago where he focused on complex ablations and device implantation. Dr. Yalvac received his Bachelor of Arts in economics and math, graduating cum laude. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine in Galveston. He then completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Afterward, Dr. Yalvac completed a general cardiology fellowship at the Tulane University Heart and Vascular Institute before completing an interventional cardiology fellowship at the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Reddy graduated from Rangaraya Medical College, Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, in Kakinada, India, in 1982. He completed an internship at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai, India, before relocating to the United States. Dr. Reddy moved to Detroit, Michigan, and completed his internal medicine residency at Wayne State University.
Passionate about his work, Dr. Reddy pursued additional education by completing cardiology and nuclear cardiology fellowships at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Arash Aghel, MD, is a board-certified internist and cardiologist at COR Healthcare Medical Associates in Los Angeles. He sees patients at the Torrance, California office where he specializes in general cardiology, interventional cardiology, structural heart, and peripheral vascular interventions.
Dr. Aghel earned his medical degree from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Iran before moving to Cleveland for his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University. He then moved to Colorado and completed 2 additional years of training in interventional cardiology and advanced structural and vascular interventions at the University of Colorado in Denver.
Dr. Aghel joins COR Healthcare Medical Associates from Colorado where he was busy practicing interventional cardiology for the past 7 years. James Matchison, MD, is an experienced physician at COR Healthcare Medical Associates who holds board certifications in internal medicine, interventional cardiology, adult cardiovascular disease, and adult comprehensive echocardiography. With a broad range of experience, Dr. Matchison is proud to serve the communities of Torrance and Redondo Beach, California.
Dr. Matchison earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson, before attending Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio. He later completed his residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California, and a general cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowship at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Brenton Bauer, MD, is a board-certified internist and cardiologist at COR Healthcare in Los Angeles. He specializes in general cardiology, cardio-oncology, and advanced cardiac imaging.
Dr. Bauer completed his medical education and advanced training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In addition to earning his Doctor of Medicine with honors, Dr. Bauer completed an internal medicine internship and residency, serving as chief resident, and a cardiovascular disease fellowship serving as chief fellow. He has been certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in addition to subspecialty boards of Echocardiography, Cardiovascular CT, and Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Bauer has written extensively for medical journals and other publications.
An award-winning physician, Dr. Bauer has been named to the American College of Cardiology’s (ACC) national conference program faculty, as an ACC National FIT (Fellows in Training) Jeopardy Competition finalist, as a finalist for the UCLA Most Outstanding Fellow Teaching Award, and won the best poster presentation in congenital heart disease at the American College of Cardiology’s 2015 conference, among others.
In his leisure time, Dr. Bauer loves traveling the world with his wife and junior high sweetheart. They particularly enjoy experiencing different cultures, trying amazing food, and learning different languages (to which he is fluent in English and Spanish and working on others including Italian).
Nadia Jafar Curran, MD, is a board-certified internist and cardiologist at COR Healthcare Medical Associates. She specializes in women’s cardiovascular disease, general cardiology, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.
Dr. Curran earned her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine, where she received the Gilda Lipton Memorial Award for compassionate care and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She then moved to San Francisco to complete her internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). During her training, Dr. Curran developed a curriculum that focused on women’s heart disease while researching lifestyle interventions in postpartum women with pregnancy complications. This research resulted in multiple presentations and publications, and informed the most recent guidelines on adverse pregnancy outcomes and cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Curran is excited to join COR Healthcare Medical Associates and brings her expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions, including risk factor assessment, prevention, microvascular dysfunction, coronary artery disease, spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), valvular heart disease, heart failure and cardiomyopathies, preconception counseling, and pregnancy-related heart health.
When she is not taking care of patients, Dr. Curran enjoys spending time with her husband and exploring all that the South Bay has to offer, including swimming, surfing, and great dining.
Dr. Shin is board certified in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and internal medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and she attended medical school at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Shin completed her residency at the UCLA San Fernando Valley program, where she was chief resident, and her fellowships at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California and Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Shin specializes in interventional cardiology, management of advanced cardiac disease, cardiac catheterization, coronary stent placement, peripheral arterial disease and intervention, echocardiography, stress echocardiography and pacemakers.
She sits on numerous committees and is the Cardiology Subcommittee Chair for Torrance Memorial Medical Center.
She has received multiple honors and awards including the Society of Geriatric Cardiology Research Award; the Preventative Cardiology Award Program Grant; and the American Heart Association Fellowship Research Grant. Dr. Kwan earned his medical doctorate at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He completed his internal medicine residency and cardiovascular disease fellowship at LAC+USC Medical Center / Keck Hospital of USC.

Michael Healy, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist who specializes in interventional and structural cardiology. His areas of expertise include state-of-the-art, minimally-invasive procedures for the treatment of coronary and valvular heart disease.
Dr. Healy earned his medical degree with honors from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and cardiology fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Dr. Healy then completed interventional cardiology fellowship at Scripps Clinic in San Diego, followed by advanced training in structural heart, peripheral vascular, and complex coronary interventions. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, vascular interpretation, and cardiac CT.
Prior to being recruited to COR Healthcare, Dr. Healy worked as an interventional cardiologist at Scripps Clinic where he was part of the teaching faculty of the fellowship training program. Dr. Healy prides himself on providing evidence-based, cutting-edge care to his patients and has been a co-investigator in several clinical trials for novel interventional device technologies.
Dr. Healy enjoys getting to know his patients and focuses on all aspects of their lives in order to personalize their treatment plans. During visits, he prioritizes educating patients with the goal of empowering them to make the best decisions regarding their unique heart condition, while also coaching them back to maximal health.
During his free time, Dr. Healy enjoys spending quality time with his family and traveling abroad. He is also an avid long-distance runner.
