Dr. Begum received her medical degree from State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical College in New York. She subsequently completed 3 years of training in Internal Medicine followed by another 3 years of specialized training in Cardiovascular disease/cardiology. She then worked at SUNY Downstate as a faculty physician and Assistant Professor of Cardiology until she moved to Dallas. After that she worked at Texas Health Resource and Plano Presbyterian Hospital for several years as an attending Cardiologist.
