Dr. Katz was raised in Alpharetta, Georgia. She began her career pursuits at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning her Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in chemistry. Following graduation, Dr. Katz returned to Georgia and earned her Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. 

Before joining the team at ENT of Athens, Dr. Katz completed an internship and residency in otolaryngology head and neck surgery at Emory University in Atlanta. 

As an otolaryngologist, Dr. Katz has special interests in pediatric and adult diseases of the head and neck, including sleep disorders, salivary gland disease, voice and swallowing problems, and head and neck cancer.

Dr. Norris was born and raised in Barnesville, Georgia. He began his professional pursuits at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, earning his Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering and graduating Cum Laude with honors. 

Following graduation, Dr. Norris remained at Mercer University where he completed medical school. There, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and obtained his Doctorate of Medicine.

Charles Mixson, MD, is a board-certified otolaryngologist at ENT of Athens, serving people of all ages living in Athens, Georgia, and throughout Clarke County and Northeast Georgia.

Dr. Mixson began his undergraduate education at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, earning his Bachelor of Science in biology and graduating Cum Laude with honors. He then enrolled at The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, earning his Doctorate of Medicine. 

After graduation, Dr. Mixson remained in Augusta and completed an ENT residency at The Medical College of Georgia. In 2006, he completed training and moved to Athens to join the team at ENT of Athens.

As an otolaryngologist, Dr. Mixson has special interests in pediatrics, management of obstructive sleep apnea including Inspire implantation, and surgery for the thyroid, parathyroid, and paranasal sinuses. He also has deep knowledge regarding the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis and developed the practice’s allergy center shortly after joining Dr. Sheffield and Dempsey. Dr. Mixson also works closely with his neurosurgery colleagues on the endoscopic approach to pituitary neoplasms.
