Double board-certified pediatrician and internal medicine specialist David Rubio, M.D., F.A.A.P., has cared for patients in Northern Virginia for over two decades. He is part of the Virginia Pediatric Group team and sees patients at the practice’s location in Aldie, Virginia. 

Dr. Rubio was born in Queens, New York, although he considers South Riding, Virginia, his hometown. He completed a six-year biomedical program with Union College in Schenectady, New York, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1987. He completed his medical degree in 1989 at Albany Medical College, also in New York. He then went on to complete his internal medicine/pediatrics residency training in 1993 at the North Shore University Hospital/Cornell University Medical Center in New York. 

Upon residency completion, Dr. Rubio joined the Northern Virginia Primary Care Associates in Annandale until 2008, when he developed and managed his own private pediatrics practice in South Riding. He was board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1994 and recertified in 2003. Dr. Rubio was also board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1994 and recertified in 2016. 

In 2016, Dr. Rubio and his practice joined the Virginia Pediatric Group. He feels it is wonderful to watch the children he's cared for over the years grow and develop. The personal relationships made with families have been extremely rewarding, and he looks forward to doing the same for many years to come. 

Dr. Rubio is fluent in Spanish and resides in South Riding with his wife and three children. In his free time, he enjoys sports and music.

Anita Banerjee, MD, FACC, is an experienced cardiology specialist at Premier Cardiac and Vascular in Annandale and Fredericksburg, Virginia. She is a female cardiologist and patient-centered physician who, instead of just prescribing medications, focuses on helping her patients make lifestyle changes to improve heart health.

Dr. Talati is delighted to be practicing in his hometown. A native of Howard County, he ventured west for undergraduate studies at Stanford University. At Stanford, Dr. Talati did his undergraduate work in mechanical engineering, where he graduated with Honors distinction and developed courses around innovation in medicine. He received his M.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Northwestern University.

Dr. Talati completed his medical training at NYU, which has been consistently named one of the top 5 hospitals in the United States for gastroenterology by U.S. News and World Report. Dr. Laughlin’s nurse Patricia Donoho has been in plastic surgery nursing for over 30 years. She is a phenomenal nurse who’s been working with Dr. Laughlin since 1994. Before working with Dr. Laughlin, Pat was a plastic surgery nurse for 10 years. She assists with all surgeries offered at Laughlin Plastic Surgery and also performs sclerotherapy.

Dr. Erika M Benns graduated from the MCP- Hahnemann University School of Medicine in 2000. Dr. Benns completed her internship and residency at the Atlanta Medical Center in Georgia. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Benns has an interest in preventive health care, especially in the areas of hypertension and diabetes.

Dr. Charles W. Phelps graduated from the University of Maryland in 1988 and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Jessica Campbell is a Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor of Science from Notre Dame of Maryland University and a Master of Science in Nursing from Simmons College in Boston, Mass. She is a certified Emergency Department Nurse and worked at the emergency department at AAMC for 20 years prior to becoming a nurse practitioner. She is from Iowa and was a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman for eight years. She has a special interest in preventive medicine, orthopedics and women’s health. She also enjoys doing home visits for our wellness exams and for sick visits if needed

Suresh Kumar Misra, MD, is the newest member of Anne Arundel Gastroenterology Associates, P.A., seeing patients from the offices in Bowie and Greenbelt, Maryland. He identifies with the pronouns he/his and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. 

Inspired by his grandfather’s dedication to medicine in India, Dr. Misra is passionate about listening to his patients with the goal of improving their health and quality of life. He strives to be a knowledgeable and accessible expert resource, both to his patients and to the community he serves. 

After completing his undergraduate degree at Tulane University, Dr. Misra received a Doctorate of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine. He continued his training at Temple University Hospital to provide much-needed quality care to the economically distressed area of North Philadelphia. 

After obtaining his Internal Medicine Board Certification, Dr. Misra practiced as an internist for six years. The highlight of his post-graduate career was serving the diverse community of Astoria, Queens, as an ICU hospitalist and completing a one-year Hepatitis Fellowship at the Institute of Liver Medicine in the Mount Sinai Health System. The fellowship focused on hepatitis and general hepatology. Dr. Misra’s practice in New York inspired him to pursue a Gastroenterology Fellowship, which he completed at the University of Arizona in Tucson. 

His research has included the pulmonary complications of cirrhosis and the predictors of liver cancer. He has published multiple reviews on Hepatitis C and presented the results at national conferences.
