Amie Sun-Wright, MD, PhD, CCD, has been practicing medicine since 2008 in North Houston. She is proud to serve patients at New Wave Physicians Group in Spring, Texas.

Dr. Sun-Wright studied at the University of Texas in San Antonio, where she earned her Master of Science and PhD in biochemistry. While serving as an assistant professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, she was involved in the development of using bacteriophage as a “natural killer” to bacteria in the human body. The research experience has trained her to always approach an issue with systematic assessment and critical thinking. 

During her research years, Dr. Sun-Wright realized she enjoyed helping people so she later obtained her medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Dallas before moving to the Houston area so she could be closer to her loving and extended family. 

Her awards include “Top Doctors” in Houston for multiple years, and she was also named in the Who’s Who in Primary Care in the US in 2018. She served as a representative to Texas Medical Association early in her career and recently as a medical director for a national health care organization. 

Prior to her endeavors, Dr. Sun-Wright was an assistant instructor in the Department of Cellular and Structural Biology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. In addition to her role as an Internist, she is a Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD). A CCD is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a professional designation awarded to clinicians who meet specified knowledge.

Dr. Sun-Wright is a triathlon enthusiast and is fluent in English, Chinese, and medically conservant in Spanish. 

Tam Truong, MD, is an internal medicine physician at New Wave Physicians Group in Spring, Texas. He is dedicated to improving his patients’ lives through exemplary medical care with the Golden Rule of Medicine and aims to treat every patient with the respect, kindness, and love he would want his own family treated. Dr. Truong feels that each patient's situation is unique and takes time to listen and work with every patient to treat their concerns and put their mind at ease. 

Dr. Truong completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Following this, he attended Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. He later completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. 

Dr. Truong has 10 years of experience as a hospitalist dealing with acute illnesses in the hospital setting and has now transitioned to outpatient medicine with a focus on chronic illnesses and preventive care. He is excited to have joined Dr. Amie Sun-Wright, his medical school classmate of 2005 at New Wave Physicians Group in Spring, Texas, at the beginning of 2021. 

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Dr. Truong now resides in The Woodlands, Texas, with his spouse and three children. When he's not helping his patients, he is proud to be a Home Depot Weekend Warrior, but most of all, Dr. Truong loves traveling and spending time with his family.

Timothy Carder, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician at New Wave Physicians Group in Spring, Texas. Dr. Carder enjoys caring for patients of all ages and medical conditions. 

A native Texan, he was born in Dallas, Texas, and grew up in Bogata, Texas, a rural agricultural community in Northeast Texas. Dr. Carder received his medical degree from Texas A&M Health Science Center in College Station, Texas, and completed his family medicine residency at Texas Tech Health Science Center of the Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas. 

He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and a member of the Texas Medical Association, American Medical Association, and Harris County Medical Society.

Lakshmy V. Ayyar, MD, FCCP is a pulmonologist at Texas Multi-Specialty Group with one office in Cypress and two in Houston, Texas. Amanbir Sohal is a pulmonologist located in the Northwest Houston area, board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical care. 

Dr. Sohal grew up in NW Houston area as a child, where he attended school in Klein ISD. After medical school he went on to complete residency and fellowship training at University of Missouri in Columbia. 

Dr. Sohal has particular interest in COPD/emphysema including evaluation and placement of endobronchial valves, interstitial lung disease/pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, bronchiectasis, COVID lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, lung nodules and cancer, pleural effusions and more. Dr. Puppala earned his medical degree from Andhra Pradesh University Of Medical Sciences in India. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Saint Vincent's Catholic Medical Center in New York City. He served as the Medical Director of the medical and surgical intensive care department, the Medical Director of respiratory therapy, and the Chairman of the critical care committee at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. Since 2004, Dr. Puppala has held the position of Medical Director of the sleep disorder center at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center in Harris County, Texas. He is also a member of Infection Control and Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Co-Director of Critical Care Services and Respiratory Therapy Departments, and Co-Chairman of Critical Care Committee at North Cypress Medical Center in Cypress, Texas.

Dr. Puppala has special interests in complicated sleep-disordered breathing, narcolepsy, parasomnias, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary embolism, interstitial lung diseases, lung cancer, pneumonia, asthma, and more. He performs specialized procedures including bronchoscopy with transbronchial lung biopsies, complicated airway management, percutaneous tracheostomy, chest tube placement, and pulmonary artery catheter placement. He interprets pulmonary function tests, methacholine challenge tests, cardiopulmonary stress tests, diagnostic sleep studies, CPAP titration studies, and multiple sleep latency tests. 

When he’s not working, Dr. Puppala enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. His hobbies include traveling, tennis, reading about world affairs, and cooking.
