Pain Medicine Inc. is an interventional pain management practice established in Lakeland Florida by Dr. Saqib Khan a quarter of a century ago. Pain Medicine Inc. specializes in back pain, sciatica, neck pain, and pain following back and neck surgeries. We have successfully treated hundreds of patients with severe arthritis, cancer, shingles, neuropathies, and trigeminal neuralgia. In the past 25 years, the clinic has successfully performed hundreds of intrathecal morphine pumps for chronic and cancer pain and has also done a large number of intrathecal baclofen pumps for multiple sclerosis, spasticity, and spinal cord injuries. The clinic is fully equipped to manage the refills and management of all these intrathecal delivery systems and currently manage just over one hundred patients with intrathecal baclofen and morphine pumps.
Pain Medicine Inc. has been the first and foremost in the field of spinal cord stimulation and has successfully performed hundreds of spinal cord stimulators. The new modality for pain rehab and rejuvenation of platelet-rich plasma has also offered at our institution. Maulik Bhalani, MD, is the founder and CEO of Florida Pain Medicine, an interventional spine and pain management facility with locations in Tampa, Wesley Chapel, Brandon, Zephyrhills, Riverview, Ormond Beach, Port Orange, and St. Petersburg, Florida. He is also the founder and medical director of Surgery Center of Florida. Dr. Bhalani is board-certified in interventional pain medicine and physical medicine & rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Medical Specialties.
After earning his medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, Dr. Bhalani went on to complete a physical medicine & rehabilitation residency at the University of South Florida, where he served as chief resident and completed a prestigious interventional pain medicine fellowship as well. Dr. Bhalani did his transitional medicine internship and partial anesthesiology training with the University of Maryland Medical Systems in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr. Bhalani is the current Vice President of the Florida Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (FSIPP) and a member of several professional societies and regional organizations dedicated to pain medicine and physical medicine & rehabilitation. He currently serves as clinical associate professor and faculty for the pain medicine fellowship and Department of Neurology at the University of South Florida which allows Florida Pain Medicine to be a core rotation site for the ACGME Pain Medicine fellows and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation residents.
With a strong belief that one should always keep learning, Dr. Bhalani continually pursues additional training and education in the latest interventional spine and pain management technology, attending pain conferences across the nation and bringing home the latest and most innovative practices for his patients. He continues to produce research and literature dedicated to pain management, and he participates in clinical trials for new pain treatments to help advance the field he loves.
When not helping his patients, Dr. Bhalani enjoys spending time with his family, playing and watching sports, and teaching residents and fellow surgeons at the University of South Florida.
