Baton Rouge Perio welcomes periodontist Barry Biner, DDS, to the team. Dr. Biner is proud to provide the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, community with high-quality care aimed at improving oral health.
Dr. Biner was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He attended the University of Toronto and acquired his Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2012. He worked in private practice before serving in the Canadian Armed Forces for six years. He achieved a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry while serving in the military.
Following his military service, Dr. Biner returned to complete his periodontal residency at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 2023, where he operated as the chief resident. To remain current with the latest advances in his field, Dr. Biner maintains memberships with the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Periodontics.
Dr. Biner is a caring humanitarian who volunteers with the Mission of Mercy to provide healthcare to those in need. He also volunteers with Great Shape Inc. to supply access to health care and to educate children and families in Jamaica and the Caribbean. Additional philanthropic efforts by Dr. Biner take him on an annual trip to Grenada.
When Dr. Biner is out of the office, he enjoys running and training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Dr. Biner welcomes the warmer temperatures that South Louisiana offers. Dr. Biner is especially excited to call Baton Rouge home!

Dr. Herman grew up in West Monroe, Louisiana. She attended West Monroe High School, then earned a Bachelor’s in biochemistry with a minor in chemistry from Louisiana State University. While studying there, she received the Chancellor’s Future Leaders in Research Scholarship, the Centennial Scholarship, and was named to the LSU Alumni Association Top 100 Scholars list. Dr. Herman received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from LSU School of Dentistry in 2016. She went on to complete her residency in periodontics there in 2019, where she served as the chief resident.
To maintain her professional credentials and stay up with the latest advances in periodontics, Dr. Herman maintains memberships with the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, American Association for Dental Research, Louisiana Dental Association, and New Orleans Dental Association.
Dr. Herman has extensive leadership and volunteer experience. As Community Service Chair for the LSUHSC dental class of 2016, she organized community service opportunities for members of her class, including fundraisers, food drives, and Habitat for Humanity service. Dr. Herman has volunteered for both the New Orleans and the Louisiana Missions of Mercy and provided dental services and supplies to adults and children in the mountain communities of Guatemala through LSU Global Healing. She served as clinic co-coordinator at the Ozanam Inn in New Orleans, working with medical students to provide free health and dental care for the homeless.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Herman enjoys cooking and fishing and is a lifelong Saints and LSU fan. She especially loves spending time with her sweet dog, Olive.
