Tarak Patel, MD, is a caring and compassionate pediatric pulmonologist and a vital part of the team at Texas Pediatric Specialties and Family Sleep Center. He’s deeply touched to have served so many families in the Alamo Heights, Shavano Park, and Lockhill-Selma areas of San Antonio, Texas, area.
Dr. Patel has deep roots in Texas. He began his studies at the University of Texas at Austin, earning his degree in biology. He then studied medicine at Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock.
He finished his clinical training in El Paso, where he enjoyed expanding his Spanish language skills and narrowed his area of focus to pediatric lung disease, and asthma in particular. He went on to complete his training in pediatric medicine at the University of Texas at Houston. His dedication to continuing education is exemplified through a fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine, also in Houston.
Throughout his studies, Dr. Patel found a great deal of fulfillment in working with various charitable organizations and in volunteer roles in medical clinics. He also continues to pursue ongoing education through lectures in a wide range of pediatric conditions. That breadth of knowledge has informed and shaped his patient care in countless ways.
