Born and raised in Moscow, Russia, Dr. Plon attended medical school at the Third Moscow Medical School. He received his medical degree from Drexel University and completed his internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins University. He attended Stanford University, where here completed his cardiovascular medicine fellowship. After fellowship, Dr. Spaccavento served in the United States Air Force, where he attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was named director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory and fellowship program at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. 

Dr. Spaccavento has had multiple academic appointments and has collaborated in multiple clinical studies in congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, and cardiac imaging. He had multiple publications in peer review cardiology journals. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with complex coronary artery disease, heart failure, and arrhythmia. After leaving the service, he brought directional and rotational atherectomy to Las Vegas and performed the first stent procedure.
