Matija attained her undergraduate degree in sociology/biology from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. She went on to complete her physician assistant training at the University of Washington in Seattle.
At Steese Immediate Care, Matija is skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of urgent care needs such as minor illnesses and injuries. She also specializes in occupational medicine, which focuses on work-related injuries and illnesses. In addition to offering treatment for work-related conditions, Matija is able to recommend preventive measures and can perform return to work exams to help patients get back to work safely.
Matija makes a concerted effort to stay abreast of the newest developments in her field to better serve her patients. She maintains membership with several professional associations, including the Alaska Academy of Physician Assistants, the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners, and the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
