Dr. Issa has a special interest in the cardiovascular care of athletes. He completed an advanced cardiovascular fellowship in sports cardiology/cardiac performance with Harvard Medical School at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. During his training, Dr. Issa provided care to hundreds of amateur, elite level, and professional athletes, including those from the New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, and Boston Red Sox.
He is utilizing this experience in his current work with the Miami Heat, NBA G League, Inter Miami CF, and Florida International University athletic teams. His vision is to bring these techniques of performance optimization to amateur and recreational athletes in the Miami area.
Dr. Issa graduated with a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from the University of Florida and then received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in California. After returning to Florida, Dr. Issa did his internship and residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. He also completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease with the Columbia University Division of Cardiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach.
Dr. Issa holds board certification in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, adult comprehensive echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and vascular interpretation. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented research to professional organizations such as the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Issa holds attending privileges at South Miami Hospital in Miami, Florida, and Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables, Florida.
Edward Neff, MD, FACC, is the senior physician at Coral Gables Cardiology Associates, P.A., in Coral Gables, Florida, where he has extensive experience providing concierge internal medicine and cardiology care to his patients. He holds dual board certifications in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is widely considered one of the top cardiologists in the area and has a special ability to inspire confidence in his care.
Dr. Neff is considered a “doctor’s doctor” and his patient base includes many other physicians who are drawn to his outstanding diagnostic abilities and experience in the field.
Dr. Neff is known for his attention to patient care and the capacity to coordinate medical issues with other providers on multiple and often complex issues. Many of his patients have been members of the practice for decades, and he is now caring for several generations of extended families.
Dr. Neff has been the Miami Heat team doctor for over 30 years also provides post-career care for many former players and staff.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Neff received his medical degree from the Temple University School of Medicine, also in Philadelphia. Dr. Neff completed a medical internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics in Miami, Florida. He went on to complete a fellowship in cardiology at Miami Veterans Administration Hospital.
Dr. Neff held positions as a Voluntary Associate Professor of Medicine and Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine, and as the chairman of the Heart Failure Committee at South Miami Hospital.
He maintains active membership in several professional organizations, including the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, Florida Medical Association, and the Dade County Medical Association.
