Ramin AmirNovin, MD, FAANS, FCNS (“Dr. A”) is an accomplished neurosurgeon and spinal surgeon at Inland Neurosurgery Institute (INI) in Pomona, California. Dr. AmirNovin has wanted to be a neurological surgeon since the age of thirteen. While volunteering at the Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California, he witnessed a life-saving craniotomy (brain surgery) on a trauma patient, and this inspired him immensely. He double-majored in chemistry and biochemistry and graduated with the highest distinction of summa cum laude from the University of California, San Diego, where he was part of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.

He continued his education in New York City, where he obtained his medical degree with the highest honors (Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and Lucien Rubinstein Award) from New York University Medical School. Siraj Gibani, MD, is an experienced neurosurgeon with the team at Inland Neurosurgery Institute (INI). Dr. Gibani sees patients at the practice’s offices in Pomona and Arcadia, California. 

Dr. Gibani is a native of the Inland Empire and grew up in West Covina and Pomona, California. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in biology from the California State University of Los Angeles through the Early Entrance Program. He went on to obtain his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University in Hershey. For his training, Dr. Gibani completed a neurosurgical residency in Philadelphia at Temple University Hospital. Dr. Disney believes that patients need an individualized approach to their neurosurgical problems. This includes complex disorders of the spine and brain as well as peripheral nerves. Catherine Peterson, MD, is an endovascular-trained neurosurgeon with advanced expertise in minimally invasive brain and spine procedures. At Inland Neurosurgery Institute, a practice with locations in Pomona and Arcadia, California, Dr. Peterson brings a deep commitment to patient-centered care and innovative neurovascular treatment strategies.

Originally from Moldova, Dr. Peterson immigrated to the U.S. in childhood, where she cultivated a strong work ethic and passion for medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with magna cum laude honors from Purdue and her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed her neurosurgery residency at UC Davis and Detroit Medical Center, followed by a competitive endovascular neurosurgery fellowship at UCLA.

Dr. Peterson specializes in both cranial and spinal neurosurgery, with a particular focus on treating stroke, aneurysms, and complex neurovascular conditions through catheter-based techniques. Her research, including multiple peer-reviewed publications and national presentations, centers on improving outcomes in stroke care and understanding cognitive recovery following brain hemorrhage.

Richard M. Young, MD, is a highly trained neurosurgeon with the team at Inland Neurosurgery Institute (INI) in Pomona and Arcadia, California. 

Dr. Young was born in Taiwan and came to the United States at an early age. His grandmother always predicted that he would be a doctor. Since the age of 3, he would hold her head when she had a migraine and would say, “When I get older, I will take care of you.”

Excelling in science and math, he went to college as an electrical engineering major at UC San Diego. However, his calling into medicine resulted in him graduating cum laude in biochemistry and cell biology. He continued his journey into medical school at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York, where he discovered his passion for neurosurgery.

This passion derived from a pivotal case during medical school, where a patient was in a coma from a ruptured brain aneurysm. That same patient recovered weeks later from the brain bleed and surgery. “To have the ability to save a person’s life…that’s what I want to do.”

He completed his neurosurgical training at The George Washington University (GWU) in Washington, DC. During his training, he also spent a year as a research fellow at the National Institute of Health (NIH) – NINDS – Medical Division. After completing his residency at GWU, he came back to the west coast to UCLA for a two-year neurointerventional/neuroendovascular surgery CAST certified fellowship.

Not only has he written many articles, book chapters, poster presentations, and a journal cover for JNS-Spine, but he was also awarded the Bannister Award both for the fastest treatment time of removing a blood clot in the brain during his fellowship at UCLA.

Dr. Scott Lederhaus became interested in neurosurgery at the age of 20 while he attended the University of California Irvine. During his studies, he managed to connect with Dr. Eldon Foltz who was the chief of neurosurgery at UCI Medical Center and became involved in neurosurgery research while observing several neurosurgical procedures and even managed to perform some experimental surgery on animals himself. From that point on, Scott was hooked on neurosurgery.

Scott finished Med school at Rush Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago followed by a year of general surgical internship at UC Davis. After his general surgical internship at UC Davis, Scott later returned to the University of California Irvine for a 6 year residency. Shortly after his residency Scott joined a practice in Pomona with Dr. Colin McDonald and Dr. David Brown for several years. Just prior to Dr. McDonald retiring he told Scott, “I may not have always had the results of the surgery I performed, but I never did a case that I didn’t feel needed to be done.” Scott felt the same and after hearing those words from Dr. McDonald he chose to live by those words.

Dr. Scott Lederhaus enjoys treating patients in the manner he would want a doctor to treat him. He joined the Association of Medical Ethics formed by Dr. Charles Rosen at UC Irvine Medical Center and later became a Board member for the organization. The Association of Medical Ethics is dedicated to evidenced based medicine and doing what is right for the patient independent of financial gain. Dr. Benjamin Ball grew up in a smaller town within the New York Tri-State area. As a young adult, he moved to Charlottesville, Virginia where he completed a double major in chemistry and biology at the University of Virginia, graduating with high honors. He remained at UVA for medical school, where his pre-clerkship GPA was top five in his class. He then completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of California, Irvine, where he spent a year completing an enfolded skull-base surgery fellowship. His surgical interests include tumors, spine, and trauma. In his free time, he enjoys watching movies, reading science fiction books, attending local comedy shows, and watching UVA Men’s Basketball dominate.

Max Steuer, M.D. is an experienced board certified neurosurgeon practicing in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Carpenter received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Carpenter operates at The Valley Hospital, where he has served as past associate chair of the Department of Neurosciences. 

Dr. Carpenter is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery, a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and has been identified by Castle & Connolly as a Top Doctor in the New York Metro Area for over 15 years. Dr. Carpenter has won countless awards for his patient care throughout his career. 

Dr. Carpenter has lived in Saddle River, New Jersey, for over 25 years and remains active in the local community, having served on the health commission and as a councilman for the Borough of Saddle River. Outside of work, Dr. Carpenter enjoys cooking, golf, and travel.

Amanda Carpenter, MD, is a skilled neurosurgeon practicing at North Jersey Neurosurgical Associates in Ridgewood, New Jersey. 

Dr. Carpenter completed her neurosurgical residency at Rutgers University, with additional training in orthopedic spine surgery at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Her practice is focused on diseases of the brain and spine. 

Dr. Carpenter’s expertise covers a broad spectrum of neurosurgery, including primary brain tumors, metastatic brain tumors, meningiomas, trigeminal neuralgia, degenerative spine disease, herniated discs, radiculopathy, spinal stenosis, spine fractures, spine tumors, scoliosis, chiari malformation, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Dr. Carpenter has advanced training in robotic-assisted spine surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, laser interstitial thermal therapy, and stereotactic radiosurgery.

Thomas S. Ellis, MD, FAANS, FACS, is an experienced Neurosurgeon at Fort Worth Brain & Spine Institute, where patients are treated like family. 

Dr. Ellis has practiced Cranial Base, Vascular, and General Neurosurgery in Fort Worth since 1997. He founded Fort Worth Brain & Spine Institute, LLP, in 2003, collaborating with Dr. Philip C. Bechtel, Dr. Richard O. Hubbard, and Dr. Andrea Halliday.

With over twenty years of continuous practice in Fort Worth, Dr. Ellis specializes in the surgical and non-surgical, multi-modality management of cranial base/skull base tumors and vascular lesions, along with the full spectrum of general neurosurgical disorders, including general and complex spine disease.

Dr. Ellis trained under the world’s foremost expert in Pituitary Surgery, Edward R. Laws, MD, and one of the originators of Skull Base Neurosurgery, Dr. Laligham Sekhar, during his residency at The George Washington University, Washington, D.C. 

He completed his fellowship in Skull Base Neurosurgery and Endovascular Neurosurgery there, as well as his fellowship in NeuroPathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C.  

Dr. Ellis trained United States and International Fellows in Skull Base Neurosurgery and was the Founding Director and Investigator at the Ammerman Cranial Base and Vascular Neurosurgical Laboratory at George Washington University.

He had the outstanding privilege of being the last resident to train and operate with Dr. Hugo V. Rizzoli – Dr. Walter Dandy’s last resident and originator of the “lumbar discectomy” and the first Neurosurgeon to perform and describe the clipping of a posterior circulation aneurysms.

Dr. Ellis was awarded the prestigious “Outstanding Resident in Neurosurgical Training Award” by the Neurosurgical Faculty at George Washington University and received the highest score to date on The American Board of Neurological Surgeons Written Board Exam during his ABNS Board Certification Process.

He also received the highest score recorded on his Maintenance of Certification Recertification Exam.

Dr. Ellis has been the Chief of the Division of Neurosurgery at Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth for over 12 years. 

He has made innumerable advancements to the Neurosurgical Community over the past 20+ years in Tarrant County. He has been selected as a “Top Doc” in Neurosurgery by Fort Worth Magazine and other community publications each year since such local physician polls started in 2002.

Dr. Ellis is a fifth-generation native Texan, born and raised in Dallas and his mother is a Daughter of the Republic of Texas. One of the accomplishments he is most proud of is being an Eagle Scout with Troop 72 since 1979. 

When he isn’t working, Dr. Ellis focuses on his wife and four children. He enjoys hunting, camping, kitesurfing, and beach activities with his family.

Samir B. Lapsiwala, MD, FAANS, FACS, is an experienced Neurosurgeon at Fort Worth Brain & Spine Institute, where patients are treated like family. The practice has offices in Fort Worth and additional offices in Granbury, and Lake Worth, Texas, so that patients can choose the nearest location.

Dr. Lapsiwala graduated Magma Cum Lauded from the University of California at San Diego with a degree in neuroscience. He then pursued his medical degree at Pennsylvania State University, followed by a seven-year neurosurgery residency at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

During residency, Dr. Lapsiwala received many awards and grants, published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, and wrote chapters in textbooks.

After residency, he was privileged to complete a complex spine surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic under the guidance of Dr. Edward Benzel. He was also granted the unique opportunity to train with spine surgery leaders in both orthopedics and neurosurgery fields. 

Dr. Lapsiwala has a large amount of experience dealing with Herniated Discs, Spinal Stenosis, and Spinal Fusion.

His treatment philosophy is, first and foremost, to care for his patients as if they were his family or friends. He strongly believes in exhausting all conservative treatment measures first, then taking the most minimally invasive approach if surgery is needed. 

Each patient has a unique story, complete with their own problems; therefore, their treatment plan must be equally unique. Dr. Lapsiwala’s goal for his patients is to create the proper treatment plan to get them back to enjoying their lives as quickly as possible.

Dr. Lapsiwala grew up in Los Angeles, California, but has called Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) home since 2009. He and his wife have two children. When he is not working, Dr. Lapsiwala enjoys fishing, watching sports, and traveling.

Anthony W. Lee, MD, FAANS, FACS, is an experienced Neurosurgeon at Fort Worth Brain & Spine Institute, where patients are treated like family. The practice has two offices in Fort Worth and additional offices in Cleburne, Texas, so that patients can choose the nearest location.

Dr. Lee received his undergraduate degree and his doctorate of medicine and completed his internship at the University of the Philippines. He then attended Wayne State University in Michigan to complete his residency and spine and neuro-endovascular fellowship. Dr. Lee has special advanced training in neurovascular, endoscopic, and keyhole approaches.

His practice focuses on conditions in the brain and spine, specifically: brain tumors, pituitary tumors, brain aneurysms, brain arteriovenous malformation, Chiari malformation, trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasms, spine tumors, cervical, lumbar and thoracic stenosis, lumbar spondylolisthesis and lumbar disc herniations.

Dr. Lee believes in providing compassionate care, understanding each patient’s story, and treating every patient as if they were a member of his own family. Dr. Lee also believes in being actively involved in the education of students and fellow physicians in the community concerning neurosurgical conditions.
