Jerome Carter, MD, is a board-certified physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Advanced Pain Management Specialists in the Baytown community of Texas. He has been practicing medicine throughout Texas since earning his medical degree nearly 18 years ago. In addition to working at the practice, Dr. Carter serves as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Texas medical branch in Galveston, Texas.
Dr. Carter’s interest in medicine began shortly after he graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. In 1995, Dr. Carter volunteered in the emergency room at Hermann Hospital in Houston. That same year, after working as a chemist at Oxid Petrochemical Plant in Houston, Dr. Carter enrolled in medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where he ultimately earned his medical degree in 2001.
After he completed a surgical internship based out of Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital in Houston, Dr. Carter began the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Program at the combined University of Texas/Baylor University Program.
Directly after finishing the program in 2005, Dr. Carter went into private practice with Pete Nguyen, MD, in Baytown. He later purchased the practice from Dr. Nguyen’s estate and turned it into a thriving pain management clinic with Okezie Okezie, MD, FAAPMR, his good friend from medical school.
Dr. Carter is excited to help patients relieve pain and take back control of their lives. When he is not working with patients, Dr. Carter enjoys traveling, weightlifting, jiu-jitsu, and attending live sporting and cultural events.
