Dr. Carter and his staff from the front office to the professionals that do initial blood pressure and assessments are amazing people that is in the right career. Advanced Pain Management Specialists is a good choice of a title foShow morer the group, I’ve been seeing Dr.Carter for a number of years and I’ve seen staff changes. The newer staff members are picked well and will help you in anyway, if you go into the facility and don’t leave with a good feeling or a smile it’s not because all the staff members didn’t offer the best!! One other thing I want to add: I’ve recommended Dr.Carter to people that know me and even people that I simply have met in Wal-Marts ect, that have seen me in the past riding handicap shopping carts -ask who helps me with pain I always have a APMS card and share the information. I have nothing to gain from this message, but to give what I’ve been given kindness, caring, ect ect from “The Team” at APMS. While I may not get everything I think I want at the time, I know I can trust Dr Carter and the staff to do what I need. My husband and I have been patients for many years and Dr Carter and Dr Okezie with their training in RehabilShow moreitation Medicine don’t just throw a pill or injection at your pain—they try to trace it back to the origin to determine the best way to treat it. This is the only practice that was able to identify what was causing the origin of back pain my husband had for over 30 years. Dr Carter’s treatment made it possible for my husband to continue to work well past his age of retirement to keep my medical coverage until Medicare covered me when I became disabled.
Jerome Carter, MD, is a board-certified physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Advanced Pain Management Specialists in the Baytown community of Texas. He has been practicing medicine throughout Texas since earning his medical degree nearly 18 years ago. In addition to working at the practice, Dr. Carter serves as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Texas medical branch in Galveston, Texas.
Dr. Carter’s interest in medicine began shortly after he graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. In 1995, Dr. Carter volunteered in the emergency room at Hermann Hospital in Houston. That same year, after working as a chemist at Oxid Petrochemical Plant in Houston, Dr. Carter enrolled in medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where he ultimately earned his medical degree in 2001.
After he completed a surgical internship based out of Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital in Houston, Dr. Carter began the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Program at the combined University of Texas/Baylor University Program.
Directly after finishing the program in 2005, Dr. Carter went into private practice with Pete Nguyen, MD, in Baytown. He later purchased the practice from Dr. Nguyen’s estate and turned it into a thriving pain management clinic with Okezie Okezie, MD, FAAPMR, his good friend from medical school.
Dr. Carter is excited to help patients relieve pain and take back control of their lives. When he is not working with patients, Dr. Carter enjoys traveling, weightlifting, jiu-jitsu, and attending live sporting and cultural events.

I’ve been under Dr. Carter’s IMPECCABLE care for 14 years … I stayed because he’s one of a rare breed of doctors .. he’s NEVER lost his caring attitude as so many doctors do after being in practice for so long. He actually listens to every concern .. he dosen’t rush me ..he never lost the respectful bedside manner .. he has answers all my questions intelligently & immediately he’s a brilliant man & the BEST in the business I’d never go to anyone else … being retired RN I chose Dr Carter for his excellent credentials & kind & caring manner!

This is a relatively new doctor to me. He is kind, he listens, he has a great bedside manner. And addresses whatever needs that you may have. He explains things and doesn’t act like he has 1 foot out the door. I recommend him to anyone, including if you have a more intensive case like me.
