Chirag Jhaveri, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Retina Consultants of Austin. Dr. Jhaveri provides retinal surgery to patients in Austin, Lakeway, Marble Falls, and Round Rock, Texas.
Dr. Jhaveri completed his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a part of an accelerated honors program. After graduating, he returned to his hometown in Houston and attended the Baylor College of Medicine.
He later received internship training at the Emory University School of Medicine, as well as residency training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and the Ochsner Medical Center, where served as a chief resident during his senior year. He then completed an intense fellowship in vitreo-retinal diseases and surgery at Northwestern University in Chicago gaining invaluable experiences in rare retinal diseases.
Dr. Jhaveri holds special interest in complex vitreoretinal diseases as well as common eye conditions like diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
As an integral member of the practice family since 2012, Dr. Jhaveri is proud to provide expert eye care in vitreo-retinal diseases to patients at Retina Consultants of Austin. He also served as vice chairman of the Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network (DRCR).
Dr. Jhaveri is actively involved in research for new and better treatment options for retinal diseases at Austin Research Center for Retina and is part of numerous clinical trials as principal investigator and sub-investigator. He has also published several papers.
Saradha Chexal, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in vitreoretinal diseases at Retina Consultants of Austin. Dr. Chexal offers patient-centered eye care to patients in Austin, Lakeway, Marble Falls, and Round Rock, Texas.
Dr. Chexal was raised in Boca Raton, Florida. She earned her bachelor’s degrees in microbiology and chemistry at the University of Florida in only three years. She then moved to New York, where she completed her medical school training at the New York Medical College.
Following her medical school education, she pursued her residency training at the University of South Florida, and received the honor of serving as chief resident during her time there. After her residency, she received retinal fellowship training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Stein Eye Institute.
At Retinal Consultants of Austin, Dr. Chexal specializes in vitreoretinal surgery. She has advanced training in hereditary eye conditions. Dr. Chexal is fluent in English and Telugu.
In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband, daughters, and son. She also loves to play the violin, cook, and hike.
“The experience at the Round Rock location was great. All staff was communicative, helpful and knowledgeable (i.e. I appreciated being told that there was a holdup in checking my insurance situation, for example).
The staff who administered vision and eye tests, as well as took the retina scans were efficient, answered questions, and friendly.
Dr. Chexal herself was great. She clearly followed a systematic approach in diagnosing, guiding our dialogue to elicit the information necessary to assess my condition. She appeared very thorough (as far as a non-professional can judge that), and I especially appreciated her paying close attention to my adding information I thought relevant, but hadn't been asked to provide.
