I give a five star rating because Dr. Abdelghani is the absolute best! He explains everything about the patient's eye condition so that the patient can understand what is happening in their eye and with their vision. He shows thShow moree patient the exam results and explains them so that patient knows what he is looking at to make his diagnosis. Dr. Abdelghani explains what will happen in any procedure that he may recommend and most importantly he doesn't do anything unnecessarily with regard to the patient's eye problem/condition. He asks if the patient has other questions that they need an answer about. One would have to go far to find nicer staff than those in his office. It is a very comforting atmosphere. As I said in the beginning if you want the absolute best then Dr. Abdelghani is your man.
The doctor was late, which was fine. What wasn’t fine was that I was put in a room at about 8:10. The young lady put numbing drops in my eyes and then she left. I waited for over an hour in the room and no one ever checked on me! Show moreThat’s what made me mad. Didn’t know if the doctor was there or not. Patients need to know what’s going on; at least to know that someone knows that you are still waiting and that they care about you. The doctor came in and you could tell that he was in a hurry so I got nervous because I had never had an injection from him and thought that this was not going to go well. It did go ok at the end but I had my doubts.
Dr. Wael Abdelghani specializes in the surgical and medical management of vitreous, retina, and macula diseases at his practice, The Woodlands Retina Center in The Woodlands, Texas. His devotion to providing the highest quality care to his patients is backed by his commitment to offering state-of-the-art therapies. He has a special interest in sutureless (no stitches) vitrectomy, microsurgical techniques for macular surgery, and the pharmacological treatment of age-related macular degeneration.
Dr. Abdelghani received his medical degree from Alexandria University then went on to complete his residency in ophthalmology at the renowned Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He then furthered his subspecialty training with a vitreoretinal fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
Dr. Abdelghani is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists. His interest in surgical innovations and his enthusiasm for teaching have shaped his career. He has participated in many research studies, most importantly on age-related macular degeneration and ocular complications from HIV.
Prior to establishing The Woodlands Retina Center in 2008, Dr. Abdelghani had a successful career at various institutes. He was an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, one of the top-ranked medical and research institutes in the United States.
In his private practice, Dr. Abdelghani continues to provide the most dedicated and innovative care to all his patients.

I’ve been going to retina specialists for decades. I really liked this doctor because he explained the pictures of my eyes and he even drew a picture so I could understand how diabetes and blood pressure control affects my eye health. Dr Abdelghani was polite, charming and respectful. His staff were efficient, kind and friendly to everyone who entered the office.
