Dr Abdelghani is the finest eye specialist In this area, including Houston, as far as I’m concerned, all of Texas, he has saved my eyes from going totally blind for at least 18 years. I would see no other eye doctor anywhere but him he’s friendly personable and always listens to you and ask you always if you have any questions. His staff is always alert very friendly. Dr. Wael Abdelghani specializes in the surgical and medical management of vitreous, retina, and macula diseases at his practice, The Woodlands Retina Center in The Woodlands, Texas. His devotion to providing the highest quality care to his patients is backed by his commitment to offering state-of-the-art therapies. He has a special interest in sutureless (no stitches) vitrectomy, microsurgical techniques for macular surgery, and the pharmacological treatment of age-related macular degeneration.
Dr. Abdelghani received his medical degree from Alexandria University then went on to complete his residency in ophthalmology at the renowned Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He then furthered his subspecialty training with a vitreoretinal fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
Dr. Abdelghani is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists. His interest in surgical innovations and his enthusiasm for teaching have shaped his career. He has participated in many research studies, most importantly on age-related macular degeneration and ocular complications from HIV.
Prior to establishing The Woodlands Retina Center in 2008, Dr. Abdelghani had a successful career at various institutes. He was an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, one of the top-ranked medical and research institutes in the United States.
In his private practice, Dr. Abdelghani continues to provide the most dedicated and innovative care to all his patients.
