Dr. Lieu
Philip Lieu, MD, is an ophthalmologist at Retina Specialists in Plano, DeSoto, and Waxahachie, Texas. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Lieu earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. Afterward, he completed his internship in general surgery at Methodist Dallas Medical Center and his residency in ophthalmology at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center’s Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences in Lubbock, Texas. He then pursued his fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery and disease at Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, Michigan.
His clinical interests include diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous, such as diabetic retinopathy, complex retinal detachment and diabetic tractional retinal detachments, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, macular surgery, retinal vascular disease, age-related macular degeneration, ocular trauma, ocular inflammation, and international ophthalmology education and outreach.
Dr. Lieu is currently a staff physician at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Plano and Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists.
