I have known Dr. Hsia since he was a fellow at UCSF. A day after the Friday installation of a pump/shunt for my glaucoma, I experienced pain and headache. Dr. Hsia met me in the deserted clinic at 7:30 pm and stayed with us untilShow more he relieved the pressure causing my pain. As a result of his dedication, I have followed him to his clinical and academic positions into private practice. I travel from Reno to Walnut Creek to see him and he continues to have the same calm dedication to his patients.
Doctor Hsia is very high level oftalmologist. He is seeing me almost 5 years, twice a year. I am leaving every visit with explained and clear understanble results of my current vision. I strongly recommend Doctor Hsia as eye care Show morespecialist. I also give the highest score to medical and office personnel. Office personnel always send remindres of upcoming visit. Every appointment starts on time. Medical personnel lead patient through eye exam procedures before seeing doctor Hsia.
Yen Cheng (Joey) Hsia, MD, is an experienced provider at Diablo Eye Associates in Walnut Creek, California. He is a native of the Bay Area and completed his medical school at the Case Western Reserve University, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor. He completed his residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and was awarded the prestigious Heed’s fellowship. He completed an additional glaucoma fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
After his training, Dr. Hsia served as the assistant professor of ophthalmology at UCSF and the medical director of the UCSF Berkeley outpatient center. He is excited to be part of Diablo Eye Associates and be able to serve the patients in the East Bay and beyond. Dr. Hsia is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Glaucoma Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Hsia specializes in cataract and glaucoma surgeries. His expertise encompasses complex cataract surgeries, intraocular lens-related complications, including lens exchange and secondary intraocular lens, traditional and novel glaucoma surgeries, minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries, and complex anterior segment surgeries and reconstruction. He was the first surgeon at UCSF to perform numerous novel glaucoma surgeries and artificial iris implantation. Dr. Hsia has published numerous research manuscripts and book chapters for a glaucoma textbook. He is a frequently invited lecturer for regional and national meetings.
In his free time, Dr. Hsia enjoys cooking, snorkeling, scuba diving, and spending time with his family.

He is experienced in the most recent lenses and the future vision these lenses might provide. Sadly Dr Chung is going to Kaiser, however she is delightful, very thorough, explains everything, just overall pleasant. I don’t have much experience with eye care because I am blessed with good eyes. My experience with Dr Chang was exemplary.
