She went on to pursue a biological sciences degree at Louisiana State University, where she graduated summa cum laude on a full academic scholarship. She was then awarded a scholarship to the prestigious University of Texas Southwestern School of Medicine in Dallas, Texas where she completed her medical doctorate. It was there that she found her passion for plastic surgery. While at UT Southwestern, she spent designated time with innovators in plastic surgery performing research and observing innovative plastic surgery techniques. Even as a medical student, she was praised by her surgical professors for demonstrating exceptional operative technique and clinical decision making and was noted to be a rising star in the plastic surgery community.
