I aspire to support both my clients and their families to reach their goals of becoming effective and functional communicators in a safe, inclusive, and positive environment. My assessment and intervention plans utilize and are based on evidence-based practices, foundational knowledge, clinical expertise and ultimately what works best for each child. Each assessment and intervention plan is individualized to the client’s current skills, incorporating personal interests, while building on a foundation of strong rapport. Intervention plans include collaboration with other professionals and family members, which is an essential aspect of providing the most effective intervention. Speech language pathology is an ever-evolving field; I am always incorporating new research and knowledge into my clinical practice.
My passions include childhood apraxia of speech, speech sound disorders, and feeding therapy.

As an early intervention speech pathologist, Rahman witnessed families of special needs children have great difficulty finding quality therapeutic resources in historically under-served communities of color. These families had few choices and were thereby forced to scramble for the limited services provided in public schools.
Children’s Language Center, LLC was opened in May 2019 to fill the need for quality therapeutic pediatric speech therapy services in historically under-served Houston communities of color. Specializing in DIR Floortime (Developmental, Individual-differences, and Relationship-based model which provides a framework for understanding how each person individually perceives and interacts with the world differently), Children’s Language Center, LLC offers quality services to children with autism, language delay, survivors of trauma, as well as other speech and language disorders.
Hello! I am originally from the area so when I graduated with my Master’s Degree from Marquette University, I knew I wanted to serve my hometown community.
I love pediatric speech pathology because it is like working as a team with family members and other professionals to help each child achieve their goals. No day is the same in this field and I love that. Each child learns differently, so I strive to modify each speech session to each child’s interests and needs. This helps them achieve their goals inside and outside the clinic and to become functional communicators across all settings. I love collaborating with family members and other professionals to work together towards our goals for the patient.
With over two decades of experience, Nicole has worked extensively with children of all ages to assess and treat a range of speech and language disorders, including motor speech delays, auditory processing challenges, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and myofunctional dysfunction. After observing transformative changes in her clients through the integration of orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT), she pursued advanced training focused on the relationship between oral function, craniofacial development, and airway health.
Nicole’s clinical expertise includes detailed evaluation and intervention for tongue posture, nasal breathing, oral resting patterns, tongue-jaw dissociation, and swallowing mechanics. She has completed intensive coursework in sleep-disordered breathing, temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD), and orofacial structure and function. Her work is rooted in neuromuscular re-education and a systems-based approach—believing that many root causes of speech, feeding, and breathing challenges are revealed through a deep understanding of orofacial form and function.
Nicole Cavalea, M.S., CCC-SLP, OMT, is a Breath Institute Ambassador and has completed training in TMD management with OMT considerations. She is highly collaborative in her approach, working closely with airway-focused orthodontists, pediatric dentists, ENTs, and pediatricians to build integrative, patient-centered care plans. She is known for identifying the “missing piece” in traditional therapy models—addressing foundational dysfunctions that often go overlooked.
In addition to clinical care, Nicole is passionate about mentorship and professional development, creating a supportive practice environment where therapists, students, and interdisciplinary providers can grow, innovate, and deliver the highest quality care.
“I had back to back appointments for my 7 yr old and 3 yr old from a referral from our dentist. Nicole took the time with each child, answered any questions that came up, and also engaged with each child on a more personal level. Each of my kids were comfortable meeting with her. She also took us into a playspace in her office where she was able to continue conducting her appointment. This space kept my 3 yr old engaged, when it was his turn, he was ready to go and sat down to get assessed.

Angie holds a B.S. in Communication Disorders (Portland State University) and a M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology (University of Hawaii) and is a certified Speech Language Pathologist with the American Speech Language and Hearing Association. In graduate school she became an ABA therapist and subsequently a team lead. She was trained by the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, TEACCH, and PECS. After the completion of her graduate program, Angie pursued many areas of interest with the pediatric population including early intervention, school settings with pediatrics, middle school and high school, as well as transitional education programs/life skills for students with severe disabilities, and private clinics. She has been fortunate to work in many interdisciplinary settings and believes in a whole child approach to learning.
