John M. Strasswimmer, MD, PhD, FAAD, FACMS, is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, currently seeing patients at Latham Dermatology in Latham, New York. Originally from Boston, Dr. Strasswimmer earned both his medical and doctoral degrees from Tufts University. He completed his internship at Harvard Medical School, followed by a dermatology residency at Yale School of Medicine. He later returned to Harvard for a laser surgery fellowship and completed an additional one-year fellowship in Mohs Micrographic and Dermatologic Surgery through the American College of Mohs Surgery.
Dr. Strasswimmer served on the faculty at Harvard Medical School and was a staff dermatologist at Massachusetts General Hospital before joining Latham Dermatology. Throughout his career, he has maintained a strong commitment to research and education. He is the lead author of more than a dozen clinical studies and continues active research in the areas of skin cancer and laser technology. He is also a frequent speaker at both national and international dermatologic surgery conferences.
Outside of his professional work, Dr. Strasswimmer is an avid traveler and actively participates in medical mission work around the world. He is certified by the American Board of Dermatology, a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD), the American College of Mohs Surgery (FACMS), and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He also serves on the executive committee of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
Alison Kortz, PA-C has been caring for patients since graduating from the Stony Brook Physician Assistant Program in 1998. With a foundation in surgical subspecialties and nearly two decades of dedicated dermatology experience, Alison brings extensive expertise in both routine and complex general medical dermatology. She has been practicing dermatology exclusively since 2005.
Alison provides a full range of dermatologic services, including comprehensive skin exams, diagnosis and treatment of acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and other chronic skin conditions. She manages skin cancers and precancerous lesions, performs dermatologic surgeries such as biopsies and excisions, and offers cosmetic treatments including injectable fillers, Botox, and other aesthetic procedures.
Deeply committed to patient-centered care, Alison believes every patient deserves exceptional dermatologic treatment. She prioritizes education, taking the time to explain conditions and treatment options so patients feel informed, empowered, and confident in their care decisions.
When not treating patients, Alison enjoys cycling, sailing, making pottery and traveling.
I've been a registered nurse for 15 years and have been involved in aesthetics for the past 5 years working with Dr. Mustafa. It's an exciting field to be in with all the advances in non-invasive cosmetic procedures. I take a lot of pride in what I do.
