Trissa Connors, M.D. serves patients at Elite Dermatology in Katy providing medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatologic care. She is passionate about working alongside her patients to develop individualized treatment plans based on their unique goals.

Dr. Connors was born in Portland, Oregon, but she spent her formative years on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Her father’s work as a botanist took the family all around the world, including a year spent living in Thailand while she was in high school.

After graduating from high school, Dr. Connors moved to the mainland where she completed her undergraduate work at the University of San Francisco. After graduating with honors, an opportunity arose for her to move to Texas for medical school. She got here as fast as she could and hasn’t looked back!

Dr. Connors attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where she graduated with High Honors and was elected a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. During her medical training she additionally completed a Masters in Public Health through The University of Texas School of Public Health where her focus was on the impact of the environment and environmental exposures on health. Stephen K Tyring, MD, PhD, FAAD is a board-certified and fellowship-trained dermatologist at Houston Skin Associates/Dermatological Association of Texas (DAT) in Houston, Webster, and Pearland Texas. 

Dr. Tyring specializes in diagnosing, treating, and researching mucocutaneous diseases and provides exceptional personalized care to dermatology patients of all ages and backgrounds.

Dr. Tyring grew up in Indiana and he received his undergraduate degree from Indiana State University (ISU) in Terre Haute. He then earned his Master’s Degree in microbiology from Abilene Christian University (ACU) in Abilene, Texas. 

After receiving his PhD in viral immunology from Texas Tech University (TTU) in Lubbock, he earned his MD from The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). Dr. Tyring completed his internship in Internal Medicine at UTMB followed by a residency in Dermatology at The University of Alabama School of Medicine (UAB) in Birmingham. 

He returned to Texas and joined the Dermatology and Microbiology/Immunology faculty at UTMB, where he remained a Professor until 2004. During this time he earned an MBA from Rice University, in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Tyring then established DAT and the Center for Clinical Studies in Houston. He is currently a Clinical Professor at the McGovern School of Medicine at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center (UTHealth) in Houston.

He is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA), and the American Federation for Clinical Research (AFMR). Dr. Tyring has also served as the President of the Houston Dermatological Society and the Texas Dermatological Society (HDS).

Dr. Tyring sits on several editorial boards and serves as a reviewer for prestigious medical journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Journal of Infectious Diseases, Journal of the American Medical Association, and Annuals of Internal Medicine as well as most American and European Dermatology journals.

Dr. Tyring has been a principal investigator in over 400 clinical trials and has authored over 1000 journal articles and book chapters. In addition, he has written 11 books on dermatology, immunology, and infectious diseases.

In his current position, Dr. Tyring diagnoses and treats a wide variety of skin diseases and conducts clinical trials and basic scientific studies on diseases with infectious or immunologic etiologies. Furthermore, he teaches medical students, residents, and clinical research fellows.

Dr. Brent A. Shook specializes in skin cancer surgery and reconstruction. Although trained in both dermatology and cosmetic surgery, Dr. Shook’s primary interest lies in providing patients who develop skin cancer with the gold standard of treatment for their skin cancer, Mohs micrographic surgery.

Raised in northwest Houston, Dr. Shook is a graduate of Klein High School. He graduated summa cum laude from East Texas Baptist University before attending Texas Tech University School of Medicine where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the National Medical Honor Society. He then completed his internship and dermatology residency at Texas Tech University. Following residency, Dr. Shook completed a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, Cutaneous Oncology, Laser and Reconstructive Surgery at the Laser and Dermatologic Surgery Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. Shook is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery. He also holds active membership in numerous medical societies including the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Shook has made substantial contributions to the medical literature in journals such as the Archives of Dermatology, The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery, Cutis and Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics, among others. Dr. Shook is happily married to his beautiful wife, Audrey, who also grew up in Northwest Houston and graduated from the John Cooper School in The Woodlands.
