She then moved to San Francisco to complete her internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). During her training, Dr. Curran developed a curriculum that focused on women’s heart disease while researching lifestyle interventions in postpartum women with pregnancy complications. This research resulted in multiple presentations and publications, and informed the most recent guidelines on adverse pregnancy outcomes and cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Curran is excited to join COR Healthcare Medical Associates and brings her expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions, including risk factor assessment, prevention, microvascular dysfunction, coronary artery disease, spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), valvular heart disease, heart failure and cardiomyopathies, preconception counseling, and pregnancy-related heart health.

When she is not taking care of patients, Dr. Curran enjoys spending time with her husband and exploring all that the South Bay has to offer, including swimming, surfing, and great dining.

Bruce Jackson, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist and internist at COR Healthcare Medical Associates in Los Angeles. At the practice’s location in Redondo Beach, California, he specializes in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease and has almost 50 years of experience. 

In addition to treating patients at COR Healthcare Medical Associates, Dr. Jackson is affiliated with several area hospitals, including Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in West Carson, California, and Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance, California. When’s he’s not treating patients, Dr. Jackson is a ham radio operator with an interest in near space balloon communications. He enjoys relaxing with his wife, Susan, and spending time with their 11 grandchildren.

Arash Aghel, MD, is a board-certified internist and cardiologist at COR Healthcare Medical Associates in Los Angeles. He sees patients at the Torrance, California office where he specializes in general cardiology, interventional cardiology, structural heart, and peripheral vascular interventions.

Dr. Aghel earned his medical degree from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Iran before moving to Cleveland for his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University.  He then moved to Colorado and completed 2 additional years of training in interventional cardiology and advanced structural and vascular interventions at the University of Colorado in Denver.

Dr. Aghel joins COR Healthcare Medical Associates from Colorado where he was busy practicing interventional cardiology for the past 7 years. He treats the entire scope of cardiac disease including complex coronary interventions, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, and peripheral vascular intervention with a focus on limb salvage/preservation.

He is board certified in cardiovascular medicine, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, vascular interpretation, and endovascular medicine.

Dr. Aghel is fluent in English and Farsi.

Outside of work, Dr. Aghel enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two daughters.

Michael Healy, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist who specializes in interventional and structural cardiology. His areas of expertise include state-of-the-art, minimally-invasive procedures for the treatment of coronary and valvular heart disease.

Dr. Healy earned his medical degree with honors from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and cardiology fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Dr. Healy then completed interventional cardiology fellowship at Scripps Clinic in San Diego, followed by advanced training in structural heart, peripheral vascular, and complex coronary interventions. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, vascular interpretation, and cardiac CT.

Prior to being recruited to COR Healthcare, Dr. Healy worked as an interventional cardiologist at Scripps Clinic where he was part of the teaching faculty of the fellowship training program. Dr. Healy prides himself on providing evidence-based, cutting-edge care to his patients and has been a co-investigator in several clinical trials for novel interventional device technologies.

Dr. Healy enjoys getting to know his patients and focuses on all aspects of their lives in order to personalize their treatment plans. During visits, he prioritizes educating patients with the goal of empowering them to make the best decisions regarding their unique heart condition, while also coaching them back to maximal health.

During his free time, Dr. Healy enjoys spending quality time with his family and traveling abroad. He is also an avid long-distance runner.

Dr. Amelia Armenta is the medical director of Health Advantage Physical Medicine. She brings a wealth of experience as an Internal Medicine doctor dealing with a myriad of problems and has always wanted to bring a holistic approach to health care.
