James Matchison, MD, is an experienced physician at COR Healthcare Medical Associates who holds board certifications in internal medicine, interventional cardiology, adult cardiovascular disease, and adult comprehensive echocardiography. With a broad range of experience, Dr. Matchison is proud to serve the communities of Torrance and Redondo Beach, California.
Dr. Matchison earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson, before attending Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio. He later completed his residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California, and a general cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowship at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center in Los Angeles.
As an experienced cardiologist, Dr. Matchison specializes in the management of advanced cardiac disease, cardiac catheterization, coronary stent placement, echocardiography, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), and stress echocardiography.
He stays up-to-date with the latest treatments and is a member of the American Society of Cardiology and American Society of Echocardiography. Dr. Matchison has practiced in the South Bay area since 2012. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family outdoors and exercising.

I came over to Dr. Matchison's practice from another cardiologist, who retired and thus closed his practice. I asked around and through good word of mouth, I arrived at Dr. Matchison's. I didn't know what to expect, (I'd been at my other cardios' for 10+ years), but Dr. Matchison put me at ease and carefully reviewed my case and decided on a course of action, new follow-up tests, like a Stress Cardiolite, plus renewing my heart medications. All this said, Dr. Matchison is great!

He prepares diligently in advance and offers thoughtful, expert, and clear guidance and recommendations. Moreover, he considers the impact of the illness and diagnosis on the patient and makes sensitive decisions based on his understanding of the individual. This is a rare and valuable ability in the practice of medicine. Without question, he is a role model for excellence in his dedication and professionalism. One of the best physicians I have ever met.
