About Dr. Patel 

Shachi Patel, MD, is a double board-certified interventional pain management physician and the owner of Delmarva Pain and Spine Center in Newark, Delaware. She is an astute, patient-focused physician who offers multimodal treatment plans to address a wide range of pain conditions. 

Dr. Patel earned her doctor of medicine at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. She went on to complete her anesthesiology residency at Harvard Medical School – Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. She continued her subspecialty training in acute and chronic pain management at Weill Cornell Medical Center and Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.  Dr. Patel is a down-to-earth and thoughtful physician. Chirag Shah, MD, is a medical oncology and hematology specialist at Advanced Cancer Care of New Jersey, PC. Dr. Shah provides personalized, state-of-the-art cancer care to residents in Toms River, New Jersey. 

Dr. Shah attended M. P. Shah Medical College in Gujarat, India, completing his medical degree in 1992. He then pursued post-graduate training in internal medicine at Edgewater Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, where he served as chief resident. 

After completing his residency, he joined an oncology and hematology fellowship program at the State University of New York (SUNY)’s Upstate Medical University and later joined the faculty as an assistant professor. 

Dr. Shah has published in numerous peer-review journals and was the recipient of a lung cancer research grant. In addition, he was a principal investigator for many clinical trials. 

In 2010, Dr. Shah decided to move to New Jersey to be closer to his loved ones. He joined the private practice of Anil R Ponnambalam MD, PC, and has worked with him since 2010.
