About Sheila Serin, MD

Dr. Sheila Serin joins The Hirsh Center in September 2026 after completing her rheumatology fellowship at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, where she served as chief fellow.

Patients with rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions need more than a diagnosis. They need a physician who listens, explains clearly and helps them understand the path forward. Dr. Serin brings that approach to adults with autoimmune, inflammatory and connective tissue diseases.

Her patients can expect thoughtful, evidence-based care and a physician who takes their concerns seriously. Whether a patient is managing joint pain, inflammation or a complex autoimmune condition, Dr. Serin works to identify the cause, explain the options and build a treatment plan that fits the patient’s needs.

With special interest in autoimmune, inflammatory and connective tissue diseases, Dr. Serin helps patients navigate conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, lupus, scleroderma, vasculitis, myositis, gout and osteoporosis. Her role as chief fellow sharpened her clinical judgment, strengthened her commitment to education and reflected the leadership patients can trust at The Hirsh Center.

A South Florida native, Dr. Serin is excited to return home and care for patients in the community where her interest in medicine first took shape. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience and behavior from Florida Atlantic University, graduating magna cum laude. During medical school, she received the Community Outreach Award for her dedication to service, advocacy and health education.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Serin enjoys traveling with her husband, staying active and making the most of life back home in South Florida. She looks forward to building meaningful, long-term relationships with patients and families at The Hirsh Center

“I LOVE Dr. Ruiz. It's very rare, nowadays, to find a doctor who truly gives you their undivided attention, without watching the clock. Dr. Ruiz made me feel comfortable as soon as he walked into the room. He is a warm and caring person and I truly feel that he will be able to help me with my health problems. I have a follow-up appointment with him, after the diagnostic testing, he ordered, is complete. I walked into his office feeling helpless and walked out hopefull...Did I mention how handsome he is?”

About Dr. Charles Harring Iii, MD, FACC

Charles Harring III, MD, FACC, is a board certified cardiologist at South Palm Cardiovascular Associates in Delray Beach, Florida. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Harring graduated from Florida State University, majoring in biological sciences, and earned his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. He completed his residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, followed by a cardiology fellowship at the University of South Florida. Dr. Harring’s training included proficiency in general cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and cardiac catheterization, with subspecialization in pacemaker and implantable defibrillator placement.

Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Harring started working in private practice with Mid Carolina Cardiology in Charlotte, North Carolina. While working for one of the largest cardiology groups in the country, he maintained an invasive practice, performing all modalities of cardiovascular care. While Dr. Harring continued to battle all aspects of cardiovascular disease, he became attentive to catching diseases before events happened. It was at this time he was first exposed to the developing practice of preventive cardiology.

Dr. Harring joined the team at South Palm Cardiovascular Associates for social reasons, and his focus changed from a more non-invasive practice to prevention. As a clinical cardiologist, including echo and nuclear cardiology, he has developed extensive growth and training in the science of advanced lipidology. His memberships in the National Lipid Association and American Society of Preventative Cardiologists have continued to form a backbone for his continued education.

His future direction and desires include developing an integrative cardiology practice, incorporating not only traditional allopathic teachings but also blending functional and holistic approaches.

“I had to cancel my appointment because I couldn’t get through to the scheduling nurse to forward my recent CT angiogram results and latest lipid panel for my first appt. No one would call back to coordinate after several attempts. The front office would not pick up my calls, only the answering service. I left messages and texts but no call backs. I will move on with another cardiologist.”

“I would have left four stars because the website provided the option choosing a morning appointment before the doctor is available, but they made room for me as the first spot when the doctor was in. Dr. Tackey spent more time asking and clarifying family history than any doctor I have had before. Still need a follow up appointment after 2 diagnostic tests, but I am very happy with the treatment from staff and the doctor so far.”
