She then completed her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania and launched her career as a nurse midwife in New Jersey.

Dr. Abeysinghe earned her undergraduate degree from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio.
