Jie Deng, MD, PhD, HCLD, FACOG, is the medical director at Think Fertility in Bellevue, Washington. She specializes in maternal-fetal medicine, embryology, reproductive endocrinology, and infertility. She is currently one of only a handful of United States reproductive endocrinologists to be certified as a High Complexity Laboratory Director in Embryology.
Dr. Deng earned her medical and doctoral degrees at Zhongshan University (Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Sciences) in Guangzhou, China. She was among the first reproductive endocrinologists to employ preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) in practice, achieving China’s first clinical PGD pregnancy for patients affected by alpha-thalassemia.
After relocating to the United States, Dr. Deng became a research fellow at the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), part of the Bioengineering Department at the University of California in San Diego, La Jolla. After completing her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Wayne State University’s Detroit Medical Center in Michigan, Dr. Deng went to Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut.
She undertook a maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) fellowship there, providing her with specialized high-risk pregnancy care knowledge and skills. Dr. Deng then traveled to Stanford Reproductive & Fertility Health in Sunnyvale, California, for her reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship.
Dr. Deng has published numerous peer-reviewed reproductive health and genetics articles in prestigious journals such as Nature Medicine, Fertility & Sterility, Nature Genetics, and the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics.
Her unique background and extensive clinical and embryology lab expertise enable Dr. Deng to treat the most challenging fertility issues. She designs customized fertility treatment programs for every patient, using techniques like mild IVF to achieve pregnancies where patients thought they had no hope.
