Wendi Benalt, MD, is a board-certified adult psychiatrist at Adelpha Psychiatric Group in Encino, California.
Dr. Benalt graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied biology, psychology, and neuroscience. She went on to pursue her medical education at UCLA, where she graduated second in her class and served as co-president of the University’s chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
A passion for women’s health led Dr. Benalt to complete a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Pennsylvania and a surgical fellowship at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Through this work, she had the enormous privilege of walking beside patients as they experienced the greatest joys and tragedies that life had to offer, and in doing so, she discovered that her passion wasn’t for surgery but for the human connection that comes with taking care of patients. She left OBGYN and, after a lot of soul-searching, returned to UCLA, where she completed her psychiatry residency and served as the Chief Resident of Reproductive Psychiatry.
Dr. Benalt enjoys treating patients with diverse mental health issues, using an approach that integrates targeted psychotherapy and medication management. She is particularly interested in women’s mental health (conditions specific to the menstrual cycle, infertility, pregnancy, the postpartum period, and the menopausal transition) and LGBTQ+ issues. She has experience with multiple psychotherapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and Gestalt therapies.
Dr. Benalt is a member of the Volunteer Clinical Faculty at UCLA, where she supervises residents and fellows in reproductive psychiatry at the Women’s Life Center.
Dr. Wilson is a California girl through and through. She was born in San Diego and remained there through high school. She attended the University of California, Berkeley in Berkley, California, and then obtained her medical degree from the University of California San Francisco Parnassus Campus in San Francisco, California.
After graduating, Dr. Wilson completed her residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in West Carson, California, and has worked in Southern California since.
Dr. Wilson knew from a young age that she wanted to go into medicine as she was always interested in human behavior and the mind-body connection. She completed medical internships at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and Stanford University in Stanford, California, further supporting her desire to practice medicine.
She first joined Plaza-Towers Obstetrics & Gynecology in 1996, where, as one of the busiest practices at Cedars-Sinai, she followed and delivered low and high-risk pregnancies and performed gynecological surgeries and procedures. Dr. Wilson enjoyed teaching residents at both Cedars-Sinai and UCLA Medical Centers.
From 2000-2017, she worked with The Beverly Hills Group of Women’s Physicians with offices in Beverly Hills and Manhattan Beach, California. In the summer of 2018, Dr. Wilson rejoined Plaza-Towers Obstetrics & Gynecology.
With over 20 years of experience under her belt, Dr. Wilson’s practice encompasses a wide range of obstetric and gynecological issues, including high-risk pregnancy, pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, uterine fibroids, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), contraception, sexually transmitted infections, abnormal pap smears, treatment of teens, pre-pregnancy counseling, unintended pregnancy, PMS, menopause, and hormonal treatment.
Dr. Wilson speaks Spanish and lives with her husband and four kids in the valley. She is accepting new patients.
Lupe Mendoza was born and raised in the city of Inglewood, California. Her parents immigrated here from Michoacán, Mexico, in hopes to give her a better life and were her inspiration into pursuing a career that would make a difference in people’s lives and allow her to help others.
Ms. Mendoza attended Santa Monica College and shortly after graduated from West Coast Ultrasound Institute as an Ultrasound technician. Throughout the years she has gained experience in general ultrasounds such as thyroid, abdomen, pelvic, vascular and breasts.
Exploring all of SoCal’s beaches is her favorite pass time with her daughter Athena when she isn’t at work. And indulging in hikes to ground with Mother Nature and her friends is what she looks forward to when she isn’t spending time with family.
