Dr. Neuman has been working with Physicians For Women caring for patients in the Madison area since 2021.
Dr. Neuman graduated from UW Madison with a degree in Kinesiology and earned her medical degree at The Medical College of Wisconsin. She completed her training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Florida-Pensacola.
Dr. Neuman chose to specialize in OBGYN because she loves to be there for her patients throughout their lifetime; from the first visit to an OBGYN to welcoming a new baby into the family, to the menopause transition, and everything in between. She is supportive of her patients’ autonomy in choices on reproductive health. She has extensive experience in high-risk obstetrics, adolescent health care, and the surgical and medical treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding.
In her spare time, Dr. Neuman enjoys running, hiking, traveling, and adventuring with her mini Australian Shepherd, Darwin.
Julie A. Schurr, MD, FACOG, graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Science Degree from Denison University. She received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics in 1993. Dr. Schurr is one of three founding physicians of the specialty obstetric and gynecology group, Physicians for Women and The Madison Midwives in Madison, Wisconsin.
She practices with her partners at UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Schurr is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Board Certified. In 2013 her practice was voted as Best OB/GYN clinic by the local women’s magazine, BRAVA, and she has received “Top Doctors” recognition and was featured as the cover story in Madison Magazine.
In 2017, Dr. Schurr and her partners debuted a painless, effective, and non-surgical, office-based procedure using a fractionated CO2 laser system called the FemiLift for the treatment of atrophic vaginal changes associated with menopause, painful intercourse, stress urinary incontinence, and lichen sclerosis- the first in Madison.
In addition to her practice of obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Schurr’s professional interests include:
The treatment of cervical and lower genital tract dysplasia
Conventional management as well as surgical and non-surgical alternatives to hysterectomy
Problems associated with perimenopause
Obstetric and gynecological-related issues associated with exercise and nutrition in the female athlete
When Dr. Schurr isn’t delivering babies, seeing patients in the office, or operating, she spends her time kickboxing and working out in the gym, bicycling, hiking, cooking up a storm with her two grown daughters, and playing with her big Rhodesian Ridgeback pup, Zulu.
Theresa Piquette, MD, is joining our family at Physicians for Women - Melius & Schurr, as an OBGYN who strives to provide a patient-centered, personalized, and empowering approach to women's care.
A Badger at heart, she originally grew up in Madison, graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She completed her residency training at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals in Milwaukee, and she is excited to be returning to Madison to care for the women of her home community.
Her training in Milwaukee has made her well-equipped to care for high-risk patients in both gynecology and obstetrics by providing evidence-based, effective, and goal-oriented treatments, including minimally invasive robotic surgery.
In addition to her breadth of training in both community and academic medical centers, she brings a passion for:
supporting physiologic childbirth and breastfeeding
identification and correction of menstrual disorders including PMS, PMDD, abnormal uterine bleeding, and infertility
providing access to personalized contraceptive management
minimally invasive surgical techniques including robotic and laparoscopic approaches
In her free time, she enjoys traveling to warm climates, camping, swimming, cheering on the Packers, and taking on the challenges of home renovation with her husband, Greg. They are joined in their adventures by their dog, Molly.
